Just by looking at Cassie's face, memories flooded back to Aquila faster than a quidditch player on a Nimbus 2000. Star Girl was all Cassie's fault. If that rat hadn't blabbed to the school that Aquila could talk to the stars, she'd never have had to feel the pain of being called names and teased.
If Cassie hadn't said anything, Aquila wouldn't be Star Girl.
Aquila never wanted to be Star Girl. She never wanted to be teased and taunted. She never wanted people thinking of her as a freak. One thing, Aquila thought. One stupid little thing and you're suddenly a freak.
Jennifer must've been feeling the same way. The simple assumption that she was the spitting image of her mother was ridiculous. The poor girl did nothing to anyone, but everyone was against her.
She didn't know Carlos's brother, but she knew he was nothing like Carlos. For one, he's in Ravenclaw, which made him automatically smarter. And, he was friends with Jennifer despite the rumors and lies being spread about her.
Calvin reminded her of Cedric except with an added evil older brother and terrible family.
"Aquila?" The voice of Cassie snapped Aquila out of her thoughts.
"Cassie," Aquila said through gritted teeth.
"Are you still upset about the star thing?" the Ravenclaw asked.
"Upset?" the green haired Slytherin asked. "Why would you think I'm upset?"
"That's a relief," Cassie sighed. "I thought you were still-"
"You didn't let me finish," Aquila interrupted. "I'm not upset. I'm furious. And if you think for one second I've forgotten about what you did, you're wrong!"
"I wasn't the one who started this!" Cassie argued. "I was talking to one of my friends, and he spread the rumor!"
"Who?" Aquila asked. "Who is he?"
"Ethan!" Cassie yelled. "Ethan Drake! From Hufflepuff!"
Aquila stared at her. She couldn't possibly believe that a boy she considered to be her friend was the one who spread the Star Girl rumor.
"You're lying," she said. "You're lying to me."
"It's the truth," Cassie said. "If you don't believe me, why don't you ask the stars? I'm sure they'll talk to you."
Aquila couldn't hold in her anger. She stood up and punched Cassie in the nose.
Professor Trelawney walked over and sent both girls to Dumbledore's office. "I see a detention in your future, Miss Whitman," Trelawney said as the two girls walked out of the classroom.
"No kidding," Aquila muttered.
"I think she heard that," a painting said.
"Butt out!" Aquila yelled, storming down the stairs.

"A detention on the first day?" Cedric asked Aquila in the library that night.
"Yep," she said proudly. "I beat Gred and Forge over there for first detention of the year."
"We'll win next year," George said. "Or my name's not Gred!"
"It's not," Cedric said, flipping through Aquila's spell book. "Can we learn this one? The summoning charm?"
"Sure," Aquila said. Since they didn't have any school assignments that night, Aquila promised to teach her friends some new spells. "You just have to concentrate. Try it with that book."
Cedric pointed his wand at a bookshelf, "Accio textbook!"
The big blue book flew off of the shelf and hit Cedric in the face.
"You concentrated a little too much, mate," Fred said.
"Sorry I'm late!" Ethan said, rushing over to them. "But I was just talking with Oliver from Gryffindor, and his new Seeker is Harry Potter!"
"But he didn't ask for our consent!" George yelled.
"Let's get him!" Fred said.
"Accio Oli-"
"Let's not!" Aquila said, moving George's wand. "You have legs; use them!"
"Right," George said. "I just wanted to try out the spell."
"I recommend starting with a feather or something lighter than a thesaurus!" Cedric commented from where he sat, rubbing his eyes.
"I'll take you're advice, mate," Fred said. He dragged his twin out of the library to find Oliver.
Aquila didn't want to talk to Ethan. The more she thought about it, the more she believed Cassie. That would explain why he was so worried about her hurting him on the train. And why Cedric didn't want to tell her about him.
She had to make it look like nothing was bothering her, but she couldn't. She had to ask him about it. The question burned in the back of her mind and itched to come out.
After teaching Cedric and Ethan some new charms and spells, she decided to talk to Cedric about it.
"You remember Cassie, right?" Aquila asked him.
"The girl who spread the rumors about you?" Cedric asked.
"Yeah, that's her... I think..."
"What's wrong, Quil?" Cedric asked.
"Cassie told me that... She said Ethan was the one who spread the rumors about me."
"Oh," Cedric said slowly. "You should talk to him about it if it's bothering you."
"What am I supposed to say?" Aquila asked.
"Just say what needs to be said," Cedric told her.

Aquila found Ethan later that day, walking down the corridor.
"Ethan!" She called. "Can I talk to you?"
"Sure, Quil," he said. "What's up?"
"Did you spread the Star Girl rumors?"
