It didn't take long for Aquila to realize that her plan to get Ethan to ask Gwenivere to the ball wasn't going as smoothly as she originally hoped. Ethan was hopeless on his own, and the green haired girl decided it was best if she stepped in.

"Bonjour, Gwenivere," Aquila said, walking up to the blonde Beauxbatons student.

"Bonjour, Aquila," Gwenivere said in her pearly French accent. "How are you?"

"I'm good," Aquila said. "I see you've met my good friend Ethan."

"Oui," the French girl said. "I have met him."

"He is très bien, no?" Aquila asked.

"Oui," she said. "Il est mignon."

Aquila knew only the basics of French, which was hello, goodbye, yes, no, and good. She had no idea what Gwenivere had said besides yes, he is. But that last word had her wracking her brain for a logical cognate for it.

The only word that popped into her mind was McGonagall.

That's obviously wrong, Quil, she thought. What if she just dissed him? Said he smelled like dung? Said Hufflepuffs were stupid?

Gwenivere could tell Aquila was struggling with her French. She knew a few phrases in English, so she whispered the translation to Aquila.

Aquila's eyes widened, "Really?"

"Oui," she said, twirling her blonde hair. "Très."

Aquila smiled and whispered back, "I think he feels the same about you."

It took the girl a few seconds to comprehend Aquila's words, but when she did, the girl smiled brightly. "Est parfait!"

Now, you're probably wondering what our boy Ethan was doing throughout this exchange. He was watching their facial expressions in an attempt to figure out what they were talking about. You see, Ethan knew no French at all. He just understood the smile that was evident on Gwenivere's face.

Soon, the blonde girl walked over to Ethan, smiling brightly. "Ethan," she said, "I have a question."

"Yes?" Ethan asked. His heart sped up a bit, and the room felt hot.

"Est-que tu vas à le Yule Ball avec moi?" Gwenivere asked.

The smile on Aquila's face in the distance was all Ethan needed to know she had asked him to the ball.

"Oui, oui!" Ethan said.

"Tu es très mignon. Tu le sais, non?" the French girl batted her eyelashes.

"Um... oui?" Ethan asked, not knowing she was complimenting him.

Gwenivere laughed, "I am happy you know, Ethan. You can call me Gwen."

"You can call me whatever you want!" Ethan said. "I mean-Ethan's cool, but I'm fine with Eth-one time this guy called me E-man. I don't really know why anyone would call me E-man..."

As Ethan went off babbling, Aquila approached Gwen. "Did you seriously call him cute twice?" Aquila asked.

"But he is cute," Gwen whispered. "Est très mignon."

"I just threw up in my mouth," Aquila said.

"Damn this dress!" Aquila yelled. "Bloody zipper got caught in my hair again!"

Aquila and the Greenwall twins were in their dorm, helping each other into their dresses. Abby and Alexis weren't having the same difficulty as Aquila because their dresses had buttons and ties. Aquila, however, he decided to invest in a dress with a zipper.

"Stop struggling, Aquila!" Abby laughed, walking over to the girl. "I'll help you."

Abby managed to get Aquila's hair out of the zipper. "Thanks, Abs," Aquila said. "You saved not one, but many innocent hairs today."

"What can I say?" Abby asked. "Natural born hero."

"Yeah, right," Alexis shouted from the bathroom. "Hero my ass! You left the hair ties in the common room!"

"Go get them then!" Abby shouted at her sister.

Alexis grunted, and walked out of their dorm.

"Hey, Aquila," Abby said. "Can I ask you something?"

"You just did," Aquila said, grabbing her wand from her bed. "But sure."

"Are... are you loyal?" Abby asked.

"Is like to say it's one of my best traits."

"No, I mean loyal to... him."

"Cedric? Yeah."

"No! Loyal to him."

"Who?"

"You-Know-Who."

"No, I don't know who-WAIT! Are you mental?"

"No," Abby said. "Answer me. Are you loyal to him?"

"Why would you think that?" Aquila asked.

"Because your parents are, and I'm sure your brother is," Abby said. "But you. Are you loyal to the Dark Lord?"

"I am not loyal to Voldemort or any of his sort," Aquila said. "And neither is my brother."

"I wouldn't be so sure," Abby said. "I heard your little Nashy isn't so good."

"Liar!" Aquila yelled.

She was about to cast a spell at Abby when Alexis walked back in, stopping the green haired girl from turning Abby into a feather duster.
