Aquila was excited on the outside, but inside, she was terrified. She was in constant fear of Cedric dying in the tournament, and she knew she'd kill herself if she didn't tell him what she wanted to tell him.
If he died without hearing her say "I love you," she'd tear out her heart and set it on fire.
So, she made it her mission to locate her boyfriend and tell him. She'd find him, tell him, and then they'd kiss and this huge weight would be lifted from her shoulders.
It was a challenge to find Cedric. Not only were Hufflepuffs the best finders, they were also the best hiders. Finding a Hufflepuff was like finding specific needle inside a sea of other, identical needles. It was impossible.
But it was rather easy to find Gryffindors, seeing as they were always in some sort of trouble.
Fred and George, as usual, were hiding in a corridor, waiting for an innocent first year to walk past them.
"Idiots," Aquila muttered. "For the best pranksters in the school, they can't hide for crap."
She walked right up to the twins' hiding place and snatched Fred's wand from him. "Hey, Freddy! Hi, Georgie!"
Fred grabbed his wand back from her, "Hush, woman! You'll blow out cover!"
"What cover?" Aquila asked. "You might be covered from that direction, but people walking the other way will still see you, dorks."
"We aren't hiding from people over there," George explained.
"Someone's gonna be walking down this corridor in one minute," Fred said. "And we're going to get him."
"Who?" Aquila asked.
"Draco Malfoy," the twins answered.
"You've seen those Potter stinks pins," George said.
"They're brilliant," Aquila told him. "I've got one if you'd like to borrow it."
"They're awful," Fred said, ignoring her. "They aren't even clever."
"Give the kid some credit," Aquila said. "He did a great job with the graphics."
The twins glared at her.
"If you aren't going to support our cause," Fred said.
"Go away," George concluded.
"Rude," Aquila said. "But, fine. I'll stop."
"Good," they said.
"When he walks by," Fred explained, "we're going to use the jelly legs jinx on him."
"Brilliant," Aquila said in a dull monotone voice. "You're so clever."
"You haven't heard the best part," Fred said.
"Yeah," George said, "give us a minute."
Aquila huffed, but continued listening.
"He'll obviously preform the counter curse. It's unjellify for Merlin's sake," George added.
"After he's back up," Fred continued, "we're going to change those badges from Potter Stinks to Malfoy Stinks."
"Well, that clears nothing up," Aquila said. "I'll just leave you two fools alone then."
"Maybe Potter'll die in this task!"
Fred, George, and Aquila stopped talking and crouched down. Mentally, Aquila thought, How did these darn twins pull me into this?, but she remained silent and watched as Draco Malfoy rounded the corner followed by Pansy Parkinson.
"I'll bet one hundred galleons on it," Draco continued.
"Jelly legs jinx," George whispered. Draco fell to the ground, and Pansy shrieked.
"Who's there?" Pansy yelled into the corridor.
Fred pulled something from his robes and whispered, "Once I toss this, you run." Aquila nodded. Fred threw the object into the corridor and the three friends took off in the opposite direction.
"You bloody genius," Aquila said once they stopped running. "A dung bomb! Brilliant."
"Thank you," the twins said.
"Quil?" Cedric walked down the corridor towards them. "Fred? George? What's going on? Why does it smell so bad?"
"Curious are you?" George asked.
"Dung bomb," Aquila said simply.
"My idea," Fred told him.
"Was not!" George yelled.
"I have to tell you something!" Aquila and Cedric yelled at the same time.
"We'll just be going then," George said, and he and Fred sauntered off.
"You go first," Cedric said.
"Okay," Aquila said. "I honestly don't know what I'm doing right now. It's just, the final task and the messages and just, well, everything that's going on... it's just... it's scaring me, Cedric. I'm literally terrified for you. Like, you could die, and if you did-you know-bite the dust, I'd be here regretting not saying this, but... oh Merlin, I'm rambling, it's just-"
"Aquila, I love you!" Cedric blurted out.
Aquila stopped talking and froze. She'd expected him to say he loved her too; she knew they both loved each other. However, she didn't expect for him to blurt it out the way he did.
"What?" Aquila asked stupidly.
"Aquila, I am in love with you," Cedric repeated. "And, like you said, I could die in this tournament, and I don't want to go down without telling you this. I couldn't leave you knowing you didn't know. I... I just love you so much, Quil."
Aquila smiled, "I guess it's a good thing I love you too, or you'd look like an idiot right now."
"Thank Merlin for that," Cedric said.
The two students stood facing each other. They didn't know what to do next; they confessed their love, but what happens next?
"So," Aquila said. "Is this the part where Lady Aquila and Sir Cedric share their first kiss as lovers?"
"I do suppose so, m'lady," Cedric said, pulling her in for a sweet kiss.
"I don't want to lose you, Cedric," she whispered in his ear.
"You won't," he promised her. "You'll never lose me, Quil. Never."
"It's really hard to find a Hufflepuff when he's lost," Aquila said.
"Luckily, a Hufflepuff can easily find his way home when he's lost," Cedric reminded her.
"Cedric?"
"Yeah?"
"Stay with me."
"I'm not going anywhere, Quil. I'll always be with you."
