Monday.

Neither Oliver and I brought up the kiss. Our second kiss to be more specific.

Did I regret not smacking him in the face? Sorta, but at the same time no. Maybe he finally gave up on me. I would too.

"Hayley Williams," Mr.Lark called.

"Yes?"

"Why are you sitting there and not reading?"

I shrugged. Honestly, I wasn't in the mood for any of this.

"Please go outside until you have a reason."

Gladly. Tom and Max gave me worried looks as I left.

It was silent in the halls. I began to walk around cause why not?

As I turned a corner I seen Jay at his locker. Before he could see me I went back around the corner. This would be a good time to work on my gift.

I peeked over. The locker was still open. Perfect. I let my body relax.

Then just like that the locker slammed in Jay's face. The look on his face was priceless.

I laughed blowing my cover.

"Come out Williams," he ordered.

So I did.

"Training?" he asked.

"I heard Riverdell was haunted. Maybe that's how it closed," I winked.

"Good one," he gave a sarcastic laugh. "What are you doing out of class missy?"

I crossed my arms. "I can ask you the same question."

"Getting a book. What's your excuse?"

"I got kicked out of class cause I wasn't reading."

"I thought you liked reading," he gasped dramatically.

I laughed, "Not boring shit."

"Well I suggest you get back," he was being serious.

"And what if I don't?"

He gave me a sly smile. "You don't wanna challenge me Hayley."

I rolled my eyes. "Fine. For you."

"I'll walk you back," he offered.

I peeked into the small window of Mr.Larks class. They're still reading.

"I don't wanna go in there!" I whined.

"'Fine. For you,'" he mocked.

I lightly punched his arm. Suddenly, the door opened behind me, Mr.Lark. Shit.

"Hayley, I though-," he stopped and looked at Jay. To my surprise he smiled at the kid.

"Jay! Why haven't you visited lately?!"

Okay this was awkward.

Jay shrugged. "I've been busy lately. Sorry man. I haven't forgotten about you though, don't worry."

Mr.Lark stepped out of the class to talk to Jay. This was my chance. Before the door closed I squeezed through making it back in between Max and Tom.

"What happened?" Tom asked.

"I think Jay just saved me from detention."

I chewed on my pizza while everyone else was figuring out weekend plans. On a Monday, I know.
