a/n: quick apology for being lazy af lately and not updating. forgive me! another apology if this has any errors.

Any chance I got with everyone besides Oliver, I told them about about what I thought was true. Paige has to be the one behind it. I remember Max telling me earlier when I moved here that she knew how to hold a grudge.

Rebecca still had our period lunch which was an advantage. Jay was eavesdropping for me but he never heard a thing about Oliver come out of her mouth.

"Maybe she's innocent," Jay said as we sat down with the rest of the group.

"I highly doubt that," I muttered.

"Highly doubt what?" Ana asked.

"That Rebecca is innocent."

"I can't fully agree to that anymore," Nathan sighed.

"What do you mean?" I snapped.

He looked a little surprised.

"It's been two weeks," Tom spoke up. "Don't you think we'd hear something already?"

"Plus she's a sweetheart to me in Photography class!" Max began. "She's nothing like Paige."

"What do you think Siva?" I look at him with hopeful eyes.

He sighed, "Sorry Spongebob. Oliver seems as happy as can be."

"It's true but I know that's what Paige wants! She wants Rebecca to build him up so she could crumble him. Not only to make him upset but to make me pissed. Then I'll crack and end up getting expelled. I'm not going to let it happen!"

The table went silent. "Thanks for everything guys," was the last thing I said before walking out of the cafeteria.

I walked around the quiet halls clearing my head. It was rudely interrupted when I heard a high pitched laugh followed by a deeper one. No, it couldn't be.

I peeked around the corner and saw Rebecca with her body up against the lockers, Oliver hovering over her smiling. Shit he was leaning in, without even thinking I let myself 'fall' making a huge thud and Oliver rushed to my side.

"Holy shit Hayles," Oliver chuckled a little. "Are you okay?"

"Fine asshole," I muttered getting up.

"You've met Rebecca, right?" Oliver smiled at her and I couldn't help but cringe.

"Hi Hayley," she showed her pearly whites. "I have you in two classes!"

No shit Sherlock is what I wanted to say.

"Oh yea. We should talk more." Not.

She nodded her head agreeing. My head started to pound and I put my hand up to it.

"Does it hurt?" Oliver asks.

I nod my head slowly afraid to even move it at all.

"Let's go to the school nurse," he began. "I'll talk to you later darling," he said to Rebecca.

Darling? I've only ever heard him call me that. It bugged me. When we finally reached our destination I decided to ask questions.

"Why did you skip class?" I ask before he could open the door. I knew the answer to this already but I wanted to clarify.

"Rebecca wanted to hang," he answers. Point for Hayley!

"I hope you have good grades," I muttered.

"You need to relax," he began. "I'm old enough, I know what I'm doing."

"Whatever Oliver. Have fun with your new girlfriend," I walked into the nurses office feeling more hurt than ever.

I was in there till after school. I guess my 'fake' fall was pretty brutal. Apparently, I shouldn't drive home and someone should pick me up. So I waited for Jay to get here. Soon enough he entered the office and I pulled him out before the nurses could ask questions.

"What happened?" he asked.

"Nothing you'd be interested in," I muttered walking in front of him.

"My girlfriend was just in the nurse's office. How would I not be interested or care about it?" he gets in front of me and stopped walking causing me to lose my balance but he caught me.

"It had to do with Rebecca. You happy now?" I pushed him off.

"What'd she do?"

"Nothing. I 'faked' a fall so Oliver would pay attention to me. It was stupid, I know. I'll never do it again cause I can actually hurt myself. Save your breath cause I know everything you're going to say," I blurted.

He sighed, "Why are you obsessing over this?"

"Jay I'm not stupid. Paige is out to get me. You can either help me or stay out of my way," I pushed past him going into the parking lot.

He followed and I stopped at my car.

"You shouldn't drive," he warned.

"Jay I'm not in the mood for this."

"You're obviously not stable, I'll go find Oliver. You stay put," he ordered.

"He's already gone," I muttered.

"How do you know?"

"He usually parks right next to me," I look at the empty parking spot beside me.

"I'll just have to drive you then," he takes my keys out of my hand and goes into the car.

I followed his actions a bit annoyed. We get back to the apartments and he shuts off the car. He lets out a sigh.

"What?" I snap.

"I don't wanna fight anymore," he playfully whines.

"Just say I'm not crazy," I begged.

"You aren't, you're insane," he winked.

"Asshole," I muttered.

"Awe you know I'm playing. Can we not make that my new nickname though?"

I look over at him admiring his blue eyes, then his few tattoos on his arm. One of a bird.

"Jaybird?" I question.

"I like it," he smiled.

"Good, c'mon let's go inside!"

It's late now. I used most of the time to tell Jay what happened while in California. I didn't mention the box yet. I was too scared to, I hadn't even looked in it. Currently, it's in my closet.

He yawned.

"Tired?" I ask sitting next to him on the couch.

"No," he shook it off.

"Why don't you just stay here? So your dad won't have to go through the trouble of picking you up this late."

"If you insist," he rested his curly haired head on my shoulder and I Iaughed a little.

"What's so funny?" he got up and pouted.

"Nothing. I'm just happy you're here."

It was 3 in the morning when we decided to go to sleep. I got dressed into my pajamas and walked back into the living room where Jay was passed out on the couch.

I laughed to myself before turning off the living room light. Slowly, I made my way back to my room. I closed the door and hopped into my bed. Sleep is what I really needed right now, especially with this stupid headache.
