We entered the crowded restaurant. Haven't seen it like this in awhile. Maybe it wasn't good if we took up an extra table tonight.

"Jay," I stopped him.

He turned waiting for me to continue.

"It's really crowded. Do you think your Dad will mind?"

He shook his head no and we sat ourselves at our usual table. People waiting in line gave us looks. Woops. Violet, the usual waitress, helped us out.

After receiving our food Jay began to ask questions about the trip. Some I already knew most of the answers to, but not all. It was making me annoyed actually.

Then he got serious.

"What's up?" I asked picking at my food.

"Do you plan on visiting your mom?"

"I'd rather you call her Kendra, by her name. Anyways, no I don't. I'm pretty sure she's unaware I'll be in California."

"A lot can happen in a week," he mumbled.

"Don't worry, I can handle it."

He just sighed, "Anyone you do plan on seeing?" he asked.

"Maybe just one person," I bit my lip. I've been thinking through how it was all gonna go down. Me and Hannah would meet up privately and just chill. A really good excuse is all I really needed. I couldn't tell her what happened, that's for sure.

"Who?" he asked curiously.

"Hannah. You remember when I told you about her, right?"

"Yea," he nodded his head. "Well be very cautious about that. Do you know how to answer all her questions?"

"No," I admitted.

"Let's practice then," he cracked his knuckles making me roll my eyes. "First question. Why did you leave?"

I was tongue tied for a minute cause I couldn't say the original lie. "Family emergency with my aunt Cordelia."

He nodded his head, "Why didn't you come back?"

"I thought it'd be better to stay cause she needed my support. Her husband isn't the greatest."

"Add more," he ordered.

"Plus, the grading system is different out there in London. You know how bad I was doing at our school."

"Your mom let you leave?"

"Hannah," I kept going after realizing what I called him, "You know Kendra is just so involved with herself! If I were to go missing she wouldn't have noticed."

"Why didn't you say goodbye?"

"How could I? I didn't want to deal with seeing you upset. You know how easy I crack. I totally regret it now that I see you. I'm sorry for being a shitty friend..."

"Kiss me."

I felt my cheeks go red. "Hannah wouldn't ask me that," I cocked my head to the side.

"Well it wasn't a question. It was an order," he winked.

I rolled my eyes at him before leaning over the table and planting my lips against his. Smooth.

Jay dropped me off at home promising to come over before I leave tomorrow.

My main problem now was sleep, I couldn't. Maybe some music? Mayday Parade was always my first choice. I hooked my phone to my speaker then I got comfy in my bed.
