I got up extra early today. Also got to school extra early. I've accomplished to avoid Oliver and Jay. Obviously I'd have to see Jay during first period but at least I'd get some time away from them.
I was currently in the school library, looking through the books, killing time. Just then I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was Max.
"Hey Max," I half smiled.
"Morning. Aren't you early?"
"Well so are you."
"I get service hours for helping out the library. What's your excuse?"
"Well if you must know, I like books." Lame. Totally lame.
"Good one. Anyways, why'd you leave the roller skating rink early? You nearly gave Jay and Oliver a heart attack."
"I didn't feel good."
"So you decided to walk home? In the cold? There's a bunch of creeps that linger in that area of town. You're lucky you didn't run into one of them."
"It was a stupid move, I know."
I tried to avoid talking to him even more so I started walking down the aisle, looking at the books.
"What really happened?" he followed. "Because I'm not buying it. You looked completely fine yesterday and you look completely fine today."
"Max. Please drop it."
"I just figured we were close enough for you to tell me things."
"We are. There's just some things I'd rather keep to myself," I looked at him this time.
He shrugged and walked off.
"Max."
He turned around.
"Sorry," I mumbled.
"I'll accept your apology if you come to our first football game on Saturday."
"You made the team?"
"All the guys did."
"That's awesome. Congrats."
"Thanks. But I must ask for a favor."
"What?" I rolled my eyes.
"You remember that girl from the ice cream place?"
"Yes."
"Well she's going too. It'd be great if you could keep her company. Ana already agreed."
"Well if she did then I will too. I just hope she isn't a snob."
"She isn't. Promise," he held out his pinkie. I intertwined mine with his and the bell rang.
"See you later!" he said.
<>
Jay was late. He plopped down next to me.
"I've been worried sick," he started. "I don't get you sometimes Hayley."
I shrugged.
"What happened?" he asked.
"Don't ask questions you already know the answer to. You're smarter than that."
"Oliver looked like he knew something. He didn't tell me anything though. What'd he do?"
"Ask him."
"Fine, I will. Can you at least stop being mad at me."
I shot him a smile. "Better?"
"Smartass."
I laughed.
<>
Lunch time. It was just me and Ana for now. The other guys were getting their lunch.
"So I hear you're going to the game on Saturday," I began.
"Of course. I have to support Siva. He'd probably cry if I didn't go. He's such a baby sometimes."
I laughed. Their relationship was really adorable to be honest. Sorta reminded me of how Alek and I were. Ugh.
"That's good to hear. I pretty much have to go now. I'd be a shitty friend if I didn't."
"Hell yea you would! You're in our clique now. Once you're in, there's no way out!"
"Lovely."
<>
School has ended! Honestly, I didn't want to go home. I wanted to be far from there.
"Jay," we stopped in front of my car.
"What's up?" he asked.
"I don't feel like going home."
"You're gonna have to face him sooner or later."
"I choose later."
He laughed. "Well if you want to tag along with me to the restaurant, you can. I have to do some chores there. Pretty boring if you ask me."
"I'm in."
<>
It was amusing, watching Jay wash dishes and take people's orders.
I was currently sitting at the bar top. His dad, Andrew, was actually a really chill person. He didn't make things awkward or anything. Now I knew where Jay got his cool personality from. I even got a free appetizer!
As me and his dad were talking Jay took a seat next to me.
"That's the last customer," he told him.
"Good job son. Here's your pay," he passed him the money and Jay took it happily.
"Thanks. Well it's late, we're gonna go home now."
"See you there. Nice finally meeting you too Hayley. Jay never stops talking about you," he winked.
"Dad!" Jay moaned.
We both laughed.
<>
Home. Bleh.
I got into my apartment. My phone went off. Hannah replied!
'The good thing is that you're alive. (; But seriously, where are you? I want to see you.'
I sighed. Maybe replying to her wasn't such a good idea.
'i told you. i can't tell you.'
'Yes you can! You just choose not to. I can't believe you sometimes. What's keeping you back from telling me? It's not anybody but you.'
'i have to go.'
'Whatever hayley. Bye.'
Good. Usually she can go on for hours. We had that relationship where we could always bicker at each other.
It's complicated.

My alarm woke me up. Slowly, I opened my eyes. Holy shit it was already seven!
I nearly jumped off my bed to my dresser. Shit. This is why I need my sleep.
As soon as I finished it was already 7:50. School started at 8:15. The traffic is going to suck too. This is wonderful.
I grabbed my keys and headed to the door. As soon as I opened it there he stood. Oliver.

ik i suck for leaving it off there. :P
