*Timeskip 2 weeks*
We finally reached the Land of Water and had to report to the Mizukage, fear pooled in the pits of my stomach as we approached his office.
Last I knew, Karatachi Yagura was the Mizukage and he was responsible in reinforcing the Bloody Mist Village, a nickname for Kirigakure.
I knocked on the door of the office and was surprised to hear a woman’s voice answer. I opened the door and looked behind the desk to see a former member of my mother’s team; Mei Terumi.
“Lady Mei.” I said with a smile as I walked towards the woman. She stood up and walked over with a smile before tightly embracing me.
“I see that the Hokage let you come.” She said with a smile. I nodded. “Lady Hokage gave me the scroll.” I said sadly.
Mei’s normally cheerful face saddened a bit as she nodded. I felt an arm go around my shoulders and leaned my head on Neji’s shoulder. Mei gave the brunette boy a confused look before looking back at me.
“Who’s this young man?” She asked teasingly. “I am Hyuuga Neji. It’s a pleasure to meet you Lady Mizukage.” He said politely as he released his hold on my shoulders to bow to the older woman. “Nice to meet you.” She said with a gentle smile.
Neji straightened up and put his arm around me again. I smiled and placed my hand on his as I turned my attention towards Lady Mei.
“He’s my fiance.” I told her as he kissed my cheek. She looked a bit sad but smiled brightly and congratulated us on our engagement. I smiled happily and thanked her.
I saddened a bit when I thought of my parents. I smiled sadly and looked down at the floor. “I just wish Mom and Dad could’ve met him.” I said.
I looked up in time to see Mei nod. “They would’ve been proud of you.” She said. I nodded. “We should get going, it’s dark out.” Neji said. I nodded in agreement.
We said our goodbyes and Neji and I headed to the cemetery before we made our way to my old house.
Once we got there, I opened the door and turned on the lights to see everything the same way it was back before I left. I smiled as I closed the door behind Neji. “Same as always.” I muttered to myself.
We took our shoes off and I went to the kitchen while Neji went to the living room. I got a pan out and found some vegetables sitting on the counter as well as some fish on ice and got a knife out.
I was about to begin cooking when Neji called for me. “What?” I called across the house. “Come look at this.” He said.
