Neji and I stepped out of the house and closed the door behind us. We walked to the cemetery while holding hands. Once we got there, we saw that there were white lilies and red roses on their graves, they were probably put there by my aunt who ran the village flower shop.
I felt warm tears run down my face as my relatives and parents’ friends moved aside to let me through to their graves along with Neji who was still holding my hand tightly. I heard whispering and muttering as we walked past them.
“Who’s that with (Y/n)?” “Where’s she been?” “Is that a Hyuuga?” “They must be together.” “She’s an embarrassment to our clan.” “Why is (Y/n) with the prodigy of the Hyuuga clan?” “Why are they holding hands?” “What’s that traitor doing here?”
I stayed quiet and gently squeezed Neji’s hand as if to tell him to keep quiet. We stood in front of my parents’ graves. Neji released my hand to wrap his arm around me and held me close to him as I silently cried into his shoulder. Suddenly I felt another hand on my back.
I looked up to see my Aunt Hanako standing next to Lady Mei with her hand on my back, a sad smiled played on both of their faces. I returned the sad smile as I wiped my tears away. Everyone began to leave, leaving us alone at the graves with Mei. “They were murdered.” I said, breaking the silence.
She looked over at me with a shocked face as I looked up to meet her eyes with a serious look. “How can you tell?” She asked, still in shock. “There are two large pools of dried up blood in our house.” I said gravely. “Show me.” She said. I nodded and we lead her, along with a team of Anbu to our house.
They followed Neji and I out to the living room, next to the table, where the pools of blood awaited them. After a while, I began to feel nauseous, so I excused myself to go out the the back garden to get some fresh air. I began walking around the back porch when I heard something whizz past me.
I jumped out of the way just in time to narrowly avoid being hit with a kunai.
“Who the hell are you?” I yelled as three men wearing masks and rogue Kirigakure forehead protectors jumped down from a nearby tree. “So you’re (Y/n).” One of them said as they began walking towards me. “(Y/n)!” Someone yelled. I looked to my left to see Neji and the Anbu running towards me.
