"Are you thirsty? We have Pepsi and water if you'd like." I already miss Harry and want him to come back. I wish the rules he set for me applied to him as well. I mean, it's only fair that we follow equal demands. If I can't leave without him, he shouldn't leave with me. Logical, right? Not really actually, he's much more stronger than I am; so much more capable of defending himself unlike me. I'm frail.
"Pepsi's okay. How's everything?" Harley's tall frame finds comfort on our leather couch as she watches me pour her drink from the kitchen and I'm really happy that she's here. I haven't been around friends in a while-a long time actually, so it's nice having one, especially a girl.
"Well," I cross back to her and she takes the drink from my hands, "not okay." Honesty is the best policy and I'm sure she's aware of everything happening now. I sit beside her, both of us facing each other with our leg tucked under the other, and she begins to take slow sips. Her peach lips are probably her best feature--and her eyes, and hair--just everything. She's gorgeous and as beautiful as Harry makes me feel, I somewhat envy her doll like face.
"He told me everything. Well, not everything just the big problems but I'm so sorry." An apology isn't really necessary I think, what's the point of it?
"It's fine," I force a smile, "I trust him though. I know he'll take care of it all." I say half truthfully myself. The trusting part was true, just the taking care part I'm not so sure about. I'd like to believe it is, but the chances are thin, unfortunately.
After a moment of sympathetic staring, she leans towards the glass tables and abandons her drink, then grabs my hand and holds it in hers, "I'm always here for you. Those guys don't know where I live and if you ever need a place to hide or even run away to if things become too much, please come over. I can't imagine what you're going through babe, I wish I could do something." Her frown is toxic and mirrors my own but mine is way deeper than hers.
"Thanks, it means a lot. And I can't even keep up, everything is just so--sudden. It was all so sudden."
"What do you mean?" She detaches her hand from mine and shifts as she becomes fully attentive.
"We were great all week, amazing actually. We got back together and it felt good again, you know? Before the breakup we were fighting and arguing so much, we disagreed on so many things and when I came back, it felt good--too good, I knew that at the time too," My watery eyes divert to the window and the beautiful view that usually captivates me each time I glance at it, seems dull and unimpressive.
"What did you know?" She asks me.
"That it wouldn't last. I knew something was going to happen, it was bound to. Louis came after me before the breakup and once Harry and I split he vanished. But that was because he knew Harry wasn't in my life which took away his determination to hurt me."
"Conor told me you can't tell the police." She's even appalled.
"Harry could go to jail and we don't have evidence. It's just my word against his." I have no hope at all, none.
"I wish I could shrink you and hide you in my pocket," She jokes rubbing over my hand. "Conor said they have it all under control and knowing him, you can trust his word. But this isn't why I'm here, I'm here to cheer you up and take your mind off of things." She jumps in her spot and moves closer to me excitedly.
"I really need that." My laugh is joined with hers and hopefully she can make it happen. I want nothing more than that.
"Tell me about your sex life." Her eyes remain on mine as she leans to the side to pick up her drink and I nearly choke on my spit.
"Sex life?"
"Yeah, how is it?" She's noticing my hesitation and embarrassment, "oh c'mon, don't be so shy! I'm sure he's great in bed." She winks taking a sip.
