Chapter Four: What I Want

Megan chewed on her lip as she stepped into her apartment followed by Sergio, they had left the restaurant quickly after the fall out from the reveal.

Sergio was furious that Ruud had done something like that especially when he had no right to meddle in his personal affairs; the two weren’t even close friends.

Megan ran a hand through her hair, she had never wanted the truth to come out this way, of course she wanted to be able to talk to her friends about dating Sergio but it just wasn’t possible.

When she had started dating Sergio, she hadn’t been sure if they’d last long because of his reputation as a womaniser; but as things went along, Megan discovered there was more to him than the public image that everyone knew.

Megan shook her head as she moved to sit down in her living room, she would have to deal with the fall out now especially with Marisol and Nicola mad at her for what had happened.

Sergio sat down quietly as he tried to think of someway to fix this, he had never wanted this for her and he hated that Ruud had forced him to reveal their relationship like hat.

Sergio refused to even speak to Ruud, who kept trying to apologise and had driven Megan home without speaking to Iker or Gonzalo; they had confronted the Dutchman on his stupidity in acting out the way he had when he clearly didn't have all the facts.

The couple were lucky enough to escape the eyes of the press but Sergio’s punch would probably end up in the evening news; especially since Ruud would have a black eye in the morning.

“Are you okay?” Megan asked making Sergio sigh and look at her; he had never wanted to put her in this position and now there was no way out without telling people about them.

“I’m sorry, I should never have put you in this position,” Sergio said as he shook his head, he couldn’t believe that he had punched his team-mate and he felt horrible.

Megan shook her head as she sat up and brushed her fingers through his hair, she didn’t want him blaming himself for this; if anyone was to blame then it was Ruud for being too nosey for his own good.

“I promised you, that I’d keep you out of the public eye… now not only are the press going to find out but your friends are mad at you,” Sergio said as he wondered how he could fix this, he had made a mess of everything and there was no going back for them now.

Megan sighed and took Sergio’s hand in hers making him look at her, she didn’t blame him and she was just as much to blame for what had happened as he was.

“A relationship doesn't need promises, terms or conditions. Just two people who love each other and want to be together… I knew what I was doing when we started going out Sergio,” Megan said making him smile at her words, she always had a way of making himself feel better for what had happened especially in a mess like this.

“I love you… if that means putting up with the press then I’ll do it,” Megan said as Sergio looked at her for a moment before he smiled; kissing Megan slowly, he wondered what he had done to get a woman as wonderful as her.

Megan brushed some hair from her face as she checked her phone for a fourth time, she hadn’t heard from any of her friends yet and as the hours past she began to doubt that she would.

Megan didn’t blame them for being angry, she had kept something important from them and she hated that they had been hurt; she couldn’t resist texting them a quick apology before she set her phone down.

Sergio peeked up at her from his place on the couch, he frowned as he watched her; he had turned his phone off since he had been getting phone calls from a lot of his team-mates.

“Everything okay?” Sergio asked standing up and walking over to his girlfriend, Lou watching him from his basket; the puppy had been happily chewing on a chew stick.

Megan nodded moving to check the fridge to see what she could do for dinner, her stomach grumbled and she hadn’t eaten since breakfast; lunch had been ruined by what had happened.

Sergio wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her cheek, he could see that something was bothering her; they had talked about this and he didn’t like it when she was quiet.

“It’ll be okay,” Sergio said turning Megan to face him, he kissed her softly as he tried to ease her nerves; he would make this right as soon as he could.

Megan smiled wrapping her arms around his neck, her words earlier making her relax into her boyfriend; she would deal with anything if it meant she could be with him.

“I just worry,” Megan said softly, she looked up at her boyfriend as she thought about her friends letting to slip to someone that she was dating him; she worried her family would find out and she didn’t want that.

Gerard would be far from understanding if he learnt that she was dating Sergio, he would be furious and Megan feared what he might do when he found out.

“Let’s just forget about it for now,” Sergio said trying to ease her mind, he would handle everything tomorrow; he just wanted to enjoy his time with her right now while he could.

Megan smiled pressing a kiss to his lips, she was lucky to have him and she trusted him with everything that she had; she hoped that one day they would start a family together.

“What do you want for dinner?” Megan mused as she pulled back from Sergio, she looked at the fridge trying to think of what to cook; she laughed softly as Sergio started to kiss down her neck.

The Sevillian shook his head amused as he tugged his girlfriend close, he didn’t mind and just wanted to relax for a few hours with her.

“I love you,” Sergio murmured as he kissed Megan, he hated to leave but he had to get home and he didn’t want anyone to catch him leaving her apartment.

Megan wrapped her arms around his neck, she didn’t want him to leave and she was sure that staying one night wouldn’t hurt.

“Stay,” Megan said as she stared up at her boyfriend, her fingers brushed through his hair; the last few days had been life changing for them and she couldn’t help but think that there was more to come.

Sergio shook his head as he pulled back from Megan, he wished that he could but he needed to get to work on covering up his fight with Ruud; he wanted to keep Megan out of it.

“I wish I could,” Sergio said gently, he could see she was disappointed and he hated to upset her but he really had to go. Megan nodded her head understandingly, she offered him a small smile as she kissed him; she didn’t want to make this harder on him.

“I’ll make it up to you, I promise,” Sergio said as he wrapped his arms around Megan, he would stay another night but there were things that he needed to do and this mess with Ruud wasn’t going to fix itself.

Megan nodded as she hugged Sergio, she hoped that he wouldn’t be in too much trouble with his team-mates; she hated to think that he was going to be in some sort of trouble with the club for punching Ruud.
