Megan felt like throwing herself out of the window, Sergio had been completely wrong about Paqui; she had spent her time making this meal as uncomfortable as possible for her son’s girlfriend.
Sergio had managed to push back the first meeting with his parents for a week, he didn’t want to over stress Megan after all she had been through; he feared what might happened with her and the baby.
Megan had worn a black long line sweater tunic and black ankle length leggings paired with burgundy low ankle boots for her first meeting with Sergio’s parents.
It was obvious that Paqui didn’t approve of Megan, and while José María tried to make her feel as comfortable as possible while his wife asked Megan a lot of awkward questions.
Megan was ready to kill Sergio when he excused himself to go to the restroom, leaving her alone with his parents; she wasn’t sure what he was expecting to happen while he was gone.
José María smiled at her before he to left her alone with Paqui, Megan swallowed as she sat awkwardly in silence; she waited a couple of minutes before she spoke.
“Could I ask something?” Megan asked carefully, Paqui frowned for a second but nodded for her son’s girlfriend to continue; Megan took a deep breath knowing that she had to face up to this.
“Why do you hate me?” Megan asked knowing that she hadn’t done anything to make Paqui dislike her; she was sure that Sergio’s mother was angry about being kept in the dark but she had hoped that it wouldn’t affect anything.
Paqui sat quietly for a moment she looked Megan up and down before sighing; she knew that she wasn’t going to be easy on her son’s girlfriend, she didn’t trust Megan and she needed time.
“I don’t think you are good enough for Sergio… it’s obvious that you’re nothing but a gold digger,” Paqui said staring at Megan, she could see how much Sergio loved the brunette and she feared just how much Megan could hurt him.
Megan nodded her head, she had guessed that this would be a problem; she was unemployed and pregnant; she didn’t want to fight because it would hurt Sergio.
Megan just hoped that with time Paqui would come to trust her, she was going to look for a job as soon as she could; she didn’t want to live off Sergio’s millions.
“She’s not,” Sergio said making the two women look at him surprised, neither of them had realised that the two men had returned from the bathroom.
José María shook his head, it was obvious that he knew something that the two women didn’t; he smiled looking at his son knowing that he was so happy for him and Paqui was going to have to get used to Megan.
“Megan’s the most un-selfish person I have ever met… she doesn’t care that I’m a footballer or that I’m rich, I can be me around her without worrying,” Sergio said stepping closer, he smiled as he spoke about his girlfriend of six years.
Megan couldn’t stop the smile that formed on her face as he spoke about her, she had never heard him talk like this; she felt tears form in her eyes knowing that she was lucky to have him.
“She doesn’t let me buy her things when we’re out shopping if we go out to dinner she insists she helps pay the bill… I don’t know what I’d do without her,” Sergio continued while José María smiled at his son’s words, this was refreshing and he had never heard Sergio talk about anyone like this.
Paqui sighed as Sergio took Megan’s hand as he sat back down, she watched as her son kissed Megan gently while her husband sat next to her smiling; this was something that neither of them had ever seen.
“It’s about time,” José María said making the young couple look at him confused, Paqui rolled her eyes at her husband’s words; she couldn’t believe that Megan was the one that her son had chosen.
“We agreed that after you became a footballer, your madre would be able to test the women that came into your life,” José María said making the couple stare at him, Paqui pursed her lips; she truly wished that she hadn’t agreed to that.
Megan wasn’t someone that she wanted to see her son with, she knew how broken up Sergio had been without her and she was glad the woman was okay but she knew that Sergio was only going to get hurt by Megan.
“This is the first time you have ever defended one of your girlfriends Sergio,” José María continued to explain; Megan looked at her boyfriend who shrugged as he tried to figure out what was happening.
Sergio knew that his parents had never approved of any of his past girlfriends, he had dated a few models before he had met Megan and he remembered how his parents had disliked them.
Paqui frowned looking between the couple, she could see that Megan was here to stay and while José María approved of the match; it was going to take longer for her to adjust to her son’s new girlfriend.
Megan was going to be the mother of her grandchild and Paqui wanted to ensure that Sergio didn’t end up hurt like René had been; Daniela’s mother wasn’t around anymore and he had been hurt by that.
“I still don’t trust her,” Paqui said while Sergio looked at Megan and smiled, while his parents looked at him oddly wondering why he was so happy with Megan.
“You don’t have too… I trust Megan with my life,” Sergio said making Megan smile at him, José María and Paqui looked at their son; for some reason he seemed so much more mature and it was because of Megan.
Sergio had a feeling that it was going to take his mother some time to get used to the fact that her little boy was all grown up; he just hoped that Paqui would warm to him being with Megan.

“See that wasn’t so bad,” Sergio murmured as they left the restaurant, he drew his girlfriend close as they walked over to his car; he pressed a kiss to the top of Megan’s head.
Megan rolled her eyes, she might have been thirteen weeks pregnant but she knew that this wasn’t going to be easy; she had a feeling that it would take Paqui time to get used to her.
“I love you,” Megan said kissing Sergio, she didn’t know how things were going to play out but next week Sergio would be doing a press conference to reveal their relationship and her pregnancy.
Sergio held Megan close as they kissed, he didn’t care who could see them; all he cared about was that he had her and their baby back and they were both okay.
“I love you too,” Sergio whispered with a smile as he pulled back from Megan, it was going to take some getting used to but he was sure that they would be fine after all that had happened.
Megan was getting better after what had happened to her and Sergio was hopeful that she and the baby would be okay; he couldn’t wait for their next scan so he could see the baby.
The couple walked over to the car, they had a feeling that once their news was out there then it would only be a matter of time before Gerard would come looking for them.
Megan couldn’t hide from her father forever and she knew that once he discovered that she was no longer at St. Paul’s, that there was going to be trouble.
Sergio wouldn’t be allowing anything to happen to her or their baby, it was going to be an interesting few months.
