I'm Making a List of Things That I Miss Whenever We're Far Apart

Harry had set a date to talk with Izzy for two days from now, but since the night he made is way to my house frazzled he'd been staying over. I had also agreed to watch Flea for Dougie while he was away in Atlanta, so we were like the three amigos.

I tried to do things to help Harry take his mind off Izzy at least until they spoke. We baked (one of my favorite break up remedies), watched films, went shopping. Even if Harry didn't want to do anything and told me he wanted to wallow in bed all day, I made him at least get up and walk Flea with me, because I knew that was better than leaving him alone to get in his own head.

We'd also been in contact with the other three members of McFly, who were still in Atlanta. They had told us they planned to stay there for one more week and then Dallas would make the trip over to England for New Years and do some more work on the album then.

So far, they had written one new song which was better than nothing, I suppose, but they also weren't sparing of the details of all the different parties Dallas got them into. They drank till they felt ill and then went to the studio and played guitar until their hands were raw. Seemed like a brutal cycle, and I think Harry chose the long straw.

Harry and i usually called the boys every day at seven at night. We had to remember we had six hours time difference on them, and seven for us was just about a lunch break for them.

But today, we didn't have to, because Tom called me first.

Harry, Flea and I huddle up near my cell phone as I answered.

"Hi Tom." I said. "How's everything going?" Suddenly the receiver is filled with excited shouts from Tom, Danny and Dougie, and I can't tell what any of them are saying.

"Slow down, guys. We can't hear you." Harry says.

"Elton John!" Danny yells. Harry and I look at each other confused. I laugh. Was Danny already drunk?

"Uh...what?" I ask.

"Dallas took us to meet Elton John!" Tom shouts. Both Harry and my jaws drop.

"What? When?" Harry yells.

"Last night!" Dougie calls. "We'd gone out to some party and for dinner we went to Elton John's house!"

"Dallas just...knows Elton John?" I ask.

"He knows everybody." Tom says.

"We told you, Lilly." He's mega famous!" Danny chimes in.

Calm down, mate. You've only got one new song.

"He has all these crazy props Disney gave him for doing the music on The Lion King!" Tom, the Disney fanatic cries.

"Who does?" Harry asks.

"Elton John, Harry." Tom states.

"Oh...right." Harry says.

"Get this-" Danny starts, "he knows us."

"Shut up." Harry rolls his eyes, even though I'm the only one that can see him.

"It's true! His childhood house was at the end of the road the band house was on!" Danny protests.

"Then, after dinner with Elton-" Dougie starts. Elton? They're on a first name basis with Elton John? "Dallas took us back to the studio. We slammed some shots, and then he took us to this VIP event he was DJ-ing!"

"Well that-"

"Then we went to this party and Tina Turner was there!" Danny calls.

"Well hold on, then what did you do?" I ask.

"We went to bed." Danny says, as if it's obvious. "It was 5am then, Lilly."

"Boys, I told you this is not a vacation. This is a work trip. For writing?"

"Yes, yes we know." Tom says. "Way to beat a dead horse...and we are working. As soon as we woke up this morning, we went to the studio even though we were disgustingly hungover."

"And I assume you plan to do the same thing tonight?" I ask, starting to get pissed.

"Only of course." Dougie responds.

Harry goes on talking to the boys about their drunken adventures as I zone out. I was worried. About the boys and this album...but why should I be? My career didn't depend on the success of this album. That was McFly's problem, and I was sick of doing their worrying for them.

With the past albums, it was clear to me that the boys wanted to make music. They wanted whatever they were working on then to be released and they wanted the best version of it out there for their fans. I had been thinking this whole time that album five wasn't coming along because the boys just didn't have any ideas, but the truth was, they just didn't care. They didn't care about his album and they were prioritizing the perks about being celebrities over the work it took to get there.

After quite a while, Harry and I say our goodbyes and hang up the phone.

"Great. " Harry says, as I take my phone back. "Figures the one trip I don't go on they meet Elton John."

"I'm sorry, Harry." I sigh. I can't lie, that must suck. But I was happy to have at least one member of the band under the radar.

"Eh. What can you do?" He asks. "I still got meeting Blink 182 to hold over Tom and Danny's head."

"That is true." I laugh.

"Plus, I'm glad to be here." Harry smiles, petting Flea's head.

"You are?" I know I had been a gracious host, but his three best friends were partying in Atlanta and meeting rock legends.

"Yeah." He says. "Meeting Elton John is a once in a lifetime thing, don't get me wrong...but I needed this." Harry says, and I get what he means. I smile.

"Harry Judd...Are you going soft on me?" I chuckle.

"I could go get in a bar fight right now." He says with complete seriousness.

"Please don't." I laugh.

Maybe not that soft.
