James pov.

My hands shook as I carried the guitar through the waiting room to the door where the woman greeted us. Why was I so nervous? This isn't my interview I'm just helping Darcy out.

I followed her into a room, to hear a couple of small gasps and whispers, I sat my self down and fiddled with the strings of my guitars. "You okay? you look like your about to throw up?" Darcy's voice was a hushed whisper her lips close to my ear, making me shiver. Why did she have such an effect on me?

"Oh, um, yeah, I'm just nervous, I don't want to fuck this up you know? I mean this is your chance, and if I fucked that up for you I would never forgive myself." I felt her arms wrap around me pulling me I to a tight hug.

"You won't fuck this up, you are one f the most talented people I've ever met, and the interviewers might be fans so that will play to my advantage" A small smirk teased beneath her lips and at that moment I felt like my whole world stopped as her eyes stared into mine. My head clouded and right then I wanted to kiss her so much. The smirk on her lips faded into a sad look in her eyes. She coughed quietly before dropping her stare from mine. I stayed like that for a whole before I turned away and stared down at the ground. She moved her hand to rest in my leg and sat back in her chair.

We waiting in silence until Darcy's name was called, the walk to the room felt never ending, and the woman wore a cocky grin as if she knew something we didn't.

"Hello again Darcy, is this who will you be singing with?"

I raised my hand accompanied with an awkward "hi, I'm James Bourne."

I sat down on the stool next to Darcy and double checked the tuning of my guitar.

Don't fuck this up.

Please don't fuck this up James.

"So how many songs have you got prepared for us?" Darcy got off the stool and handed them the printed list of songs we had available to perform to them. They all gave polite smiles and analysed the list.

"Okay, would you mind singing them all for us?" The woman who Kent us at the door, with the cocky grin, smiled widely at me then back at Darcy.

"Yeah sure, James is that okay will you?"

"Yeah sure, shall we go in order of this list?" I strummed the chords quickly before clearing my throat and looking at Darcy. She stared expectantly and sat up a little straighter.

I played the opening to year 3000 and began to sing, Darcy's voice sang the harmony at the perfect pitch and volume and I had to use every fibre of me to concentrate on the song and not her.

At quick glances I could see Darcy's eyes we closed and her head moved in time with the music. With each song she got more lost in the music.

We got to my favourite song, where ever you are by 5 second of summer, Darcy took over the guitar and effortlessly began playing the song.

One of the interviewers raised their hand for us to stop, and my heart rose in my throat to my mouth. what was wring? Why would he stop us?

"Could we maybe hear Darcy sing the lead, James could you harmonise. I nodded multiple times, relieved that that was all he wanted.

Darcy smiled over at me, before restarting the song, her voice was soft and such an breath taking sound, I harmonised quietly, scared that I would drown out her voice, the words delicately bounced off of her tongue.

"For a while we pretended

That we never had to end it

But we knew we'd have to say goodbye
