Present Day

"Hyung, are you okay?" Jungkook asked with worry when he saw the older look like he was close to having a panic attack.

He rushed over to Taehyung when he started shaking, face turned red from holding in his breath.

"P-please don't leave me!" The blonde begged, Jungkook a bit taken aback by the sudden action. "I-I'll do anything, Jungkook! I swear I'm more than just m-money... I-I'm more than just money. Please."

"Taehyungie, I'd never leave you." The raven head pulled the older in a tight embrace, hoping to stop the other's shaking.

"D-don't leave me like him." Taehyung sobbed, feet barely holding him up as memories started flooding his thoughts.

Song: The Highest Tide by The Wealthy West

=====

They sat in silence, the bedroom dimming from the slow sunset. Hues of pink, purple, and yellow all mixed as they slowly left to be replaced by the dull darkness. The two males couldn't find it in themselves to even move to turn the lights on, only depending on the lamp next to the bed which provided a dim light.

"I'm sorry." Jungkook quietly mumbled, easing his way through the tension.

"You have nothing to be sorry about, bun." Taehyung's low but mellow voice had cut through. "I should've told you... but I was too scared."

Another period of silence.

Ten minutes pass.

"Who's...him?"

Three minutes pass.

"The first guy that I liked."

Five minutes pass.

"What did he do?" At this point, Jungkook didn't care that he was stepping over boundaries. He wanted Taehyung to trust him.

12 minutes pass.

The younger almost gave up on the thought of his question being answered until he heard the blonde clear his throat.

"He only became my friend because my dad's the CEO of BigHit." He paused, taking in a pained breath, before continuing. "He and his friends knew I liked him so they took advantage of that and used me like their personal debit card."

Jungkook didn't talk. Just waited for the older to continue.

"When I found out about their true intentions, I left them. I don't know why I expected them to come crawling back and begging for my friendship again. That didn't happen. Not even close to it. They started rumors about me and started bullying me because back then, I used to be really chubby." He pulled out his phone and showed the boy a photo of his past self.

Jungkook cooed at the picture. Man if only that was how people reacted to him back then.

"Seokjin-hyung found out about the whole thing and got them to move to a different school. I have to admit, things got a little better but I stopped eating. I lost a lot of weight but not enough so I starved myself. It wasn't right... well at least now I know that it wasn't. I wasn't used to not eating so I always chewed gum while I continued my horrible fasting. Even started smoking until my brother found out and so I settled with lollipops."

"Is that why you always have lollipops with you?" The raven head asked. "And why I rarely see you eat?"

The blonde nodded.

"I eat but I don't feel comfortable with people seeing me do so unless I'm close to them." Taehyung explained.

"Taehyung?"

The older looked at him, using his head to signal the other to go on.

"You're more than just money-" Jungkook started. "And whoever that guy was is an asshole. I'd never do anything near what he did to you. Never."

"I know." Taehyung whispered, eyes glossing from holding back instigating tears. "I know."

"I-I think it's only fair that I tell you my past now since y-you told me yours." The younger fidgeted, palms already sweating from nervousness.

"You don't have to if you don't want-"

"No, I want to."

Two minutes of silence.

"Okay." Taehyung said.

"Okay." Jungkook breathed out. "I'll start from the beginning."
