Ava
Aang and I are out getting food for all of us to eat. We pick the berries in silence, not a weird one that comes after a love confession or after getting caught, but a calm loving one that you would get when comforting a friend or loved one. I had left Bearington back at camp not wanting to lose him on the trip.
My eyes dip closed and don't reopen. It was a calm day the wind blew in my hair and the shade of the trees made it just the right temperature for a nap. "Ava!" I jolt up looking at Aang. He is now standing right in front of my face. His gray eyes were so light and beautiful. "You were standing there for five minutes. Are you alright?" Aang asked me in a hushed manner.
"Me? Oh yeah, I'm fine! Just didn't sleep very well last night." That was the half-truth. I didn't sleep at all. The nightmares got worse and worse. Not sleeping was the best option.
"If you say so, but we got all the food we need. We can go back to camp." I shoot him two thumbs up and follow him back to Katara and Sokka. I can hear yelling in the distance but wave it off. Its just Katara and Sokka, sibling rivalry am I right?
"Okay, we got the grub if you guys got the..." Sokka and Katara are faced away from each other anger present on both of their faces, "Hey, where's the campfire? And what happened to the tent?" Aang was carrying a full hand of berries as was I.
"Why don't you ask Miss Know It All? Queen of the Twigs!" Sokka shoots out. I cackle like an insane woman.
"Oh yeah?" Katara shoots her finger at Sokka pointing at him, "Well you're Mister Lazy Bum, King of the," She throws a stick at him, "Tents!" I laugh even louder. Aang laughed with me.
"Okay, listen, guys. Harsh words won't solve problems, action will. Why don't you just switch jobs?" Aang tried.
"Sounds good," Katara calms down.
"Whatever," Sokka shoots back at Katara. They both start to do their new jobs leaving each other alone.
"You see that? Settling feuds and making peace. All in a day's work for the Avatar." He nods his head. I yawn.
We both turn to see Momo struggling to get a melon from Appa. When he gives up Appa attempts to eat the melon only for it to be stolen by Momo again.
Aang and I laughed. He took the melon and split it using his airbending. Appa gets the bigger half and Momo looks sadly at his smaller portion. "Come on Momo, its fair. Appa has five stomachs!" Aang pointed to Appa who ate his like a small grape.

That night we all just started talking. I tried to listen to the conversation to stay awake but the years of pods cast to go to sleep had betrayed me. I snap out of my half-sleep with a slap to the face. Not a hard one but like a 'wake up' slap. "What?" I ask looking into the eyes of the person who had slapped me. Katara pulled her hand back and looked me in the eyes.
"You blanked out on us. What were you thinking about?" She askes moving back to her stop.
"Oh nothing," I say looking back into the heart of the flames.
"You look tired," she paused, "Have you been sleeping?" I look back up at her. I must have looked dead.
"Me? Oh yeah, I've been sleeping." I don't look her in the eye choosing to look back at the fire, "Just not very well." I feel the heat of my face. "Hey don't worry about me okay? Let's just get to bed." They all nod. We put out the fire and lay down. Aang takes his spot on Appa. Sokka and Katara set up their sleeping bags and soon everyone is asleep.
I sit by the fire watching the embers die out. Not wanting to wake the others I use my firebending to make a flame using it to heat myself. It is hard to focus being as tired as I am and the flame goes out for long periods before I am able to reignite it. I yawn and look around. I was very tired.
