Ava

"Momo, you need to be a little more sensitive to my boundaries." I crack open my eyes and lean up. Laying between Appa's legs made for a great bed but it was hard to get out of. Bai was snuggled deeply into my armpit softly snoring.

"What did the lemur do to you now Sokka?" I don't open my eyes but stay awake to hear an answer. The ground starts to rumble. Katara and Aang finally wake up. I am straight up now looking into the forest. Appa stands up along with the rest of us.

Four rhinos jump out of the bushes, each one carrying a rider on its back. The rhinos circle us, trapping us in our own camp. "Give up! You're completely surrounded!" The leader yells. Sokka worms away in his sleeping bag while I hastily grab my blanket, glider, and Bai.

"Come on, come on, come on!" Sokka yells as he climbs onto Appa.

"My scrolls!" Katara turns around and runs to the stump that she was using to read the scrolls. Although I suppose that those really were Aang's scrolls that he just gave to Katara.

"My staff!" Aang jumps off of Appa in a panic, almost making me fall off of Appa, to his staff. Katara freezes one man's spear to the stump and grabs her scrolls like it was nothing. Two other men took a chain and wrapped it around a large tree, one that was comparable to a redwood tree back home, and pulled it down right in Aang's path. Aang easily does a small flip over it with his airbending and grabs his glider. I throw Bai on Appa and jump on directly after him.

Right before Aang can grab onto his glider one of the men that pulled the tree down pops a top off of a firework and throws it at Aang. Aang grabs his glider and throws it into the woods. "The supplies Aang!" I yell. Aang looks back at the two sleeping bags and the backpack that contained most of our smaller items. Aang doesn't think twice about it before leaving it and jumping back over to Appa.

"Yip yip!" Aang yells. Appa takes off almost instantly leaving behind our items and our pride.

Sokka and I look back at the camp. "Wait! My boomerang!" Sokka reaches a hand out.

"My backpack!" I yell looking down at the black bag. I look helplessly down as a rider grabs my bag and Sokka's boomerang and slings them on his back.

"There's no time!" Katara yells. I plop back down on the saddle and think about what was in my bag. I clutch onto Bai tighter.

"Oh, I see. There's time to get your scrolls and time to get your staff, but no time for my boomerang?" Sokka crosses his arms and looks at his sister.

"That's correct!" Katara almost cheers. Being on Sokka's end this time wasn't very fun and I can't say that I enjoyed the idea of those mangy scruffy-looking people digging through my items.

"I am going to tear their heads off if they even consider touching my stuff," I growl.

"What did you lose Ava?" Katara looks at me.

I bury my face into Bai's wool, "My backpack."

"Sorry about your boomerang, Sokka." Aang consoles him, "And about your backpack Ava." I shrug from the floor and stand up. The small village was quaint but I knew that it wasn't going to be for long.

"I feel like I've lost part of my identity. Imagine if you lost your arrow, or if Katara lost her..." Sokka pulls up Aang's hat and points to his arrow, then looks at Katara for her distinctive look, "... hair loopies."

"Yeah well, I lost just about everything I had left of my family and old life." I brush off my bottom. Katara hugs her brother.

"Here's your produce, ponytail guy." The merchant smiles and hands Sokka the giant basket.
