Ava

The smell of ham engulfs the room. My tiny hands are covered in flour and dough. 'Silent Night' was playing in the background. My body felt empty, void of all feeling. A slight pressure on my shoulder made me look over. My grandma smiled down at me. "Oh, honey, what's wrong?"

I look back down at my hands resting upon the dough. "It's my first Christmas without my mama or my papa or Mikey. I miss them." A single tear falls down my face. My grandma hugs me. The dam breaks and tears flow from my eyes.

"Honey," She released me from the hug and made me look at her, "If it were up to them they would all be here with us, but your mama and brother are just working on some things. One day they will be better and you will go home with them. But until then, you got me." I nod and wipe my eyes.

"I love you, grandma," I whisper to her.

"Love you too honey bunny,"

Master Pakku stood in front of the four of us. He held a small bag holding gifts for us. "Katara, I want you to have this." He reaches into the bag and passes an amulet. It was cone-shaped with a small crescent moon at the top. "This amulet contains water from the Spirit Oasis." He passes the amulet to Katara. "The water has unique properties. Don't lose it." Katara bows to him.

"Thank you, Master Pakku." She walks off to Appa getting ready to leave. Aang steps up next.

"Aang, these scrolls will help you master waterbending, but remember they're no substitute for a real master." Aang looks over to Katara and smiles. He then bows and leaves to join Katara on Appa.

"Sokka," Sokka looks at him with a proud look on his face. "Take care, son." Sokka's face falls as he turns around and walks away. Finally, it was my turn. I step forward ready for nothing more than a pat on the shoulder. "You show great promise in life. Keep working hard." He puts his hand on my shoulder and sends me off.

Everyone was bored.  I did have my options, I could watch a show on my phone, but the only show I had was Avatar the Last Airbender. Ironic, however, I knew these people now. I had talked with Aang in the middle of the night after one of my nightmares, I had play fights with Sokka, I gossiped with Katara. I drank tea with Iroh and I maybe had just the slightest crush on Zuko.

He was all I could think about lately and with good reason too. He held me when we were in the North Pole till I got warmed up. He was nice to me, and he does join the good side. Not to mention that his little ponytail is the cutest thing, and the way his smile looks and his laugh. But let's be real, who doesn't have a little crush on Prince Zuko. "There it is!"

I launch myself from the saddle and look to where Sokka is pointing. Nestled deep in the mountains there is a small round base. White rock makes up the majority of the base with only slight amounts of the gold looking stuff.

We land quickly near one of the entrances of the war room. It was higher up than the courtyard and was just as beautiful. "Welcome, Avatar Aang!" Aang rubs his butt, Sokka stretches his back and Katara and I unload Appa. "I am General Fong. And welcome to all of you, great heroes!" General Fong and all of his soldiers bowed to us. " Appa, Momo, brave Sokka, the mighty Katara, and the great Ava!" I turn my head to look at him. He was kissing our asses six ways from Sunday.

General Fong was a fancy general. He had on normal armor for an Earth Nation soldier and a green cape. His long beard stretched out to mid-chest. His brown hair was put into a neat hairpiece.

"Mighty Katara? I like that." Katara buys into it. Although it is nice to be flattered sometimes. Even Aang and Sokka are smiling. Behind us, fireworks go off like crazy. We all turn around to look. It was like the town's Fourth of July fireworks but only for us. I found out that it was earthbenders that where throwing pellets into the air and making them explode.
