Ava
Warm water soaks into my back as I come to. It was like a warm blanket was wrapped around me. It felt like I was in complete bliss. The smell reminded me of coming home after a long day of school just to be greeted by the smell of pies and other baked goods. I sat up slowly taking in my surroundings. It was a swamp clearing. I look down at my body and notice that I am glowing white, with the same red lines. The gears in my head seemed to kick in as I realized that I need to find Aang.
I look around attempting to get my bearings. A monkey sitting under an archway on a stump humming loudly. For a monkey, he is well dressed and even has a necklace. I put my left hand on the ground and push myself up. I stumble over to the monkey attempting to get my footing. "E-Excuse me?" I question. My voice was deeper than normal and distorted much like it was when I was in the temple.
"Go... away." The monkey tells me. He doesn't even give me a chance to react before opening one eye. "Why are you still here?" I stand taller attempting to make myself look more intimidating.
"I need to find-" He snaps his eyes shut and releases another loud 'Ommmm!' I grab him by the necklace and pull him forward. "You don't understand you useless de-evolutionized neanderthal! I am looking for a bald kid that came through here and if you don't tell me where he went I will turn you into monkey soup! Now! Tell me where he went!" My voice grew dark at the end and the monkey's eyes went wide. My feet lifted off the ground and I started to float. He shot out his left hand and pointed in that direction. "Thanks!" I say sweetly and fly off
----------
It felt like ages since I had started to search for Aang but oddly it was quiet. In my momentary distraction, I happen to fly directly into a tree. I throw my arms out in front of me as I fall onto my back. "Ouch," I sit up and look at the tree. It was tall larger than any tree I have ever seen. I look down in the water staring at my reflection. I couldn't tell that it was me in the water. It was like an odd case of prosopagnosia. I may have moved with the reflection but I couldn't tell it was me.
I look exactly like Azar did. I think back. I guess I was... no... am her. I move up to touch my face or lack of, gently. I could feel everything but it wasn't like a normal feeling. My hands were smooth too smooth.
'Avalon. Get the avatar out of here. We do not have time for you to look at yourself.' I launch back and choke on my spit.
"Azar?" I question.
'Now Avalon!' Azar points for me to go. I hold up my hands in defense before floating again.
----------
The entrance to Koh's cave was dimly lit. "Show no emotion at all. Otherwise, your face is gonna be added to a collection of other stolen faces! Great!" I put on my straightest face possible before realizing that I don't have a face. Does this still count? I shake my head once more and enter the cave.
The sloped path turned into stairs after about a hundred feet. "-it was something about stealing the face of someone you loved..." That voice. It was Koh! I quickened my pace as I descended the steps. It was when I could see Koh's face that I felt angry. Unfathomable anger.
----------
"Koh!" My body floated down the steps making it down in record time.
"Ah, Azar. To what do I owe the pleasure." His face shifting to that of a Fire Nation man with sideburns and a goatee. He circled around me.
"Raava's host is saddened and blames you. What did you do?" I hiss out at him crossing my arms.
"Do you mean the Avatar? Because if you do, then I was simply doing my job. I took the face of a woman whom he loved." Koh switched faces. This face was new and young. It was a woman with long brown hair and brown eyes. It was simple but beautiful none the less.
