Chapter 13

Peeta's POV

Luckily, the traffic seems to be clearing off now. However, I'm not too sure whether it'll last long. I pull a puzzled face.

I say, thoughtfully, "Katniss Everdeen Mellark, hmmm...no...Katniss Mellark Everdeen, mmm, that's worse...Katniss Mellark, perfect! And I know she'll love it, she already does! If she'll allow it, I may even try it! Try having kids." I was thought tracking, brainstorming!

"Uuh, can you keep your thoughts to yourself...?" Haymitch says, as if I said anything disturbing. Having children isn't, exactly...

"Oh, err, right." I reply, laughing a bit. "So, are we-"

"Yes we are! Come out." he exclaims. I look even more puzzled than before, he knew what I was going to say.

We walk in quickly, seeing how much cash he has and needs.

"OK. How much did they ask for?" he asks.

I answered, "Forty five dollars."

Haymitch counts. It took forever to get a total since he has it in coins, not notes!

Katniss' POV

"So, have the been tricked or what?!" Annie says, cunningly.

"Yeah. All clear. But Haymitch and Peeta seem to be taking forever! Probably more than twenty minutes." I reply.

"Now now. Do not fear. Haymitch is here!" Effie says sarcastically.

"I wish. How long does it take?" I ask impatiently.

"Who knows," says Annie.

One of the shop assistants or sales clerk comes over. Uh oh! I bite my lip so hard that it's probably bleeding already.

"What is taking you so long? MAKE A DECISION and quit stalling!!" she snaps. Her nose is pointy and her eyes are wide. She has a pimple on hee cheek, near her lip.

"Uuh, em, we're not stalling, just wandering around. And wondering things." I spit out. Oops, I wasn't meant to say that! She gives us a cruel, firm look and yells, "I have my eyes on you..."

Effie and Annie turn to me with a scowl.

"Oops, sorry. I got nervous." I explained. That was practically not an excuse, but was the only choice I had.

"Guys! We only have a few more minutes, then you're gonna have to take it off and pay." Annie tells us.

"But when will they arrive with the money?" asks Effie.

"NOW!" I hear someone call. It's Peeta and Haymitch, running towards us.

I turn around and say, "Finally, they decide to make an appearance!" Annie and I giggle. Effie joins in.

"Hello, he's got the money." Haymitch pants.

"Woah! Why is it so heavy?!" I yell.

Peeta says, "Long story...OK! It's in coins. Now run and pay before it's too late,"

I manage to make it before I'm in trouble, and pay! Yay. I am so pleased.

"Thanks guys, you are the best." I say, slightly out of breath for no particular reason.
