Chapter 20

+++WEDDING DAY+++

"Peeta. Peeta! Today is gonna be glorious!" I exclaim, jumping up and down in excitment.

"Yes, it will be. Let's prepare, today is going to be a special day." he answers.

I decide to wait for Peeta to finish showering before I do, so that I can spend ten minutes extra inside...

As I bathe, I hear the door shut. Peeta has already left! Wow, he's fast. I just lay in the warm, relaxing water in the bath tub. I wait another few minutes before I hear, "Katniss, hurry! You've got fifteen minutes left." Fifteen bloody minutes??! It isn't long enough but I have to cope.

I step out of the tub, gently dry myself and blowdry, then dress into my wedding gown. What makes it special is that Cinna always knew, some day, we'd marry, and so he designed it with Portia. If only they could be here with us today. I shed a tear in memory of him.

Then, the doorbell rings. I can faintlt hear the conversation, but not well enough to know what they are saying.

"Katniss darling?! Come downstairs.I make my way down, baring in mind that I have a long dress.

"Look who's here!" she says.

I shout, "Greasy Sae! You're here! I missed you."

"Hello, how are you? I heard you are getting married today." she winks as we hug.

"I'm fine." I answer.

"Let's leave now." my mother says.

-Wedding Ceremony-

I walk down the isle with Haymitch, and meet Peeta at the centre part of the front. From here I can see Effie and Annie, Gale and Sae, my mother with Finnick Jr. Everyone. Obviously Gale does not look so keen on things but I didn't let that ruin my day.

"We will now say a requested poem to begin with. You are welcome to join in if you'd like to." the Priest/Vicor says.

"Two doves meeting in the sky

Two loves hand in hand eye to eye

Two parts of a loving whole

Two hearts and a single soul

Two stars shining big and bright

Two fires bringing warmth and light

Two songs played in perfect tune

Two flowers growing into bloom

Two Doves gliding in the air

Two hearts and a single soul" everyone says. Tears come out my eyes. I cannot believe it's actually happening today!

"Your hair looks beautiful." Peeta whispers.

"Thanks. You look handsome." I say.

He replies, "Thanks."

"In order for you to marry, you must make some agreements.

Katniss Everdeen, do you have the will take Peeta Mellark as your husband, whom you must bond and trust for the rest of your life?"

I answer, "I do."

"And Peeta Mellark, do you have the will to take Katniss Everdeen as your wife, whom you must trust and bond for the rest of your life?!"

He says, "I do." I smile at him and he smiles back.

"Any objections?" he asks. Gale growls and stumps off.

"Peeta and Katniss, I may now pronounce you Husband and Wife. Peeta Mellark, you may now kiss the bride."

This is it. The last time being an Everdeen!

Peeta turns to me and presses hard on my lips, exploring the inside, like we did before. Once we let go, we go in again...

Everyone claps and cheers. I can see flashing of cameras and video cameras.

Once we leave the main part, we walk around. "Surprise!" Peeta yells.

I look around with amazement.

"Everywhere is filled with beautiful flowers! I love it! Thank you Peeta Mellark."

"You're welcome, Katniss Mellark." he says. We walk around, and greet some of our old friends, and allies like Johanna.
