"Gabriel, Adrien, Adley! Come on you're going to be late if you don't get down here now."
Adley comes down the stairs. She's 10 years old, it crazy to believe. "Momma, I don't wanna go" she whines.
"I'm sorry Addy, but you have to honey" I push back her blonde hair and kiss her forehead. She had her Dad's eyes.
"Mommy!" I hear the twins tell at the same time. All of a sudden I feel them run into my legs. "Hi boys, do you have your bag packed?"
"Yes ma'am"
"And be nice to your sister she's having a rough time right now"
"Is she going through puberty?"
"Gabriel Jaxon you don't ask that."
I hear a car honk in the drive way. Honestly he couldn't have just called. The boys walk out and Adley waits for me. "Come on Addy, it's time to go to Daddy's house"
We walk outside and Kian is standing outside the car waiting. He still looks as good as the day we met. "Hey Mads," he greets me and walks over to give me a hug. I hug him back and then step back a step. I lean down and kiss Adley them send her to get in her Dad's car. "Boys!"Kian yells and both the boys stop talking and look at him, "Get out here and give your momma lovins" the both jump out of the car and come to give me a kiss on the cheek and a hug.
"Have fun I love you guys" I specially blow a kiss to Adley. She catches it and puts it to her heart. I turn to Kian.
"She's till adjusting to the split so just be easy this weekend. I don't like knowing that she's sad and gonna be away from me but that's how it is. You can have the boys for the week, but I'd really like to have her back."
Kian just looks at me, "of course Mads, and you have funny this weekend too, what are you doing?"
"Going to visit Kara, she's still having trouble with Sabrina's passing so I'm going over to help."
He just nods his head and makes his way back to his car. He whispers something to himself before getting in.
Kian's Point Of View
"I love you Mads," I mumble to myself before getting in the car. "Who's ready for a fun weekend With Dad?" I ask and the boys cheer. I look over to Addy in the seat next to me and push back her hair before kissing her forehead, she looks so much like Mady it's crazy.
Mady's Point of View
I watch them pull away and say to myself, "I love you Kian".
*Flashback*
Kian and I have been having trouble with the twins now that they are older, they are harder to control. "Adrien Blake! Get your behind over here!" He runs over to me and stands infront of me. "What have I told you about hitting your brother?" I ask him. "You said not to mommy, but bubby hit me first." "And why did bubby hit you?" "Cause I took his toy" "Go to Daddy and tell him that" I tell the young boy.
He runs to Kian's office to talk to him. A few years after Kian and I got married, Jc got married and having a channel was too much for the both of them. So they decided to end the channel but they both became managers for up and coming YouTubers. Kian doesn't spend much time with us now because he is always busy with work.
I hear Kian's door shut and Adrien comes back out, "Daddy said to talk to you" of course. "Go to your room Adrien, do not get your tablet or tv and leave your brother alone." I walk down the hall to Kian's office after Adrien goes to his room.
I slowly open the door and walk over to his desk. "Kian" I say, and he looks up at me. "Madelynn, you know I'm busy why would you send Gabe in here while I'm busy."
"Kian Robert That was Adrien, did you even bother to look at him?"
"No I was writing and email to my client"
"Oh my God! Are you serious"
"Yes Madelynn I'm very busy I don't have time for childish arguments."
"Kian Robert Lawley you listen to me, these children are mine and yours, when they argue, you help take care of the argument. Childish or not"
"Madelynn Lawley you listen to me, I am the only income in this house, you are a stay at home mom. I do all the work that I do so that we can live. I don't have time for childish arguments"
"They are hitting each other for God's Sake."
He just rolls his eyes.
"What has gotten into you? Who is this man and what have you done with the man that I married 10 years ago?"
"I am that man Madelynn, I'm almost 40 years old and am still living in the same tiny house since I was 27"
"You are not that man, Have you forgotten about our vows Kian? Huh? We will love each other forever to have and hold through sickness and health richer and poorer."
He stands up and walk towards me. "Madelynn I need you to get out of my office"
"Excuse me?"
"Get out of my office"
"Really?!"
"Yeah!" He shouts back.
"Well I'm going to get out of the house too, along with our children, if you even remember their names. Adley, our little girl, Gabriel, and Adrien. I'm not telling you our whereabouts unless emergency ensues. And be expecting something from me in the mail." And with that I turn around and walk way, to gather up the kids.
*flashback ended*
I feel myself come back from a space out and shake my head. The divorce was for the best. We have only been apart for a few months though.
Kian's Point Of View
As we are driving down the road Adley asks, "Daddy, why did you and mommy break up?"
*flashback*
She storms out of my office and I slam the door shut behind her. Slowly the realization of what happened hit me and I sank to the floor. I started sobbing, I had just let the love of my life walk out on me. I open the door in enough time to see her shuffle the kids out the door.
"Mady! Mady! Wait! Please!"
She looks at me with no emotion in her eyes, "No Kian, you've ruined us, keep that in mind"
I stumble backwards into my office and turn to look at my desk. I hear the front door slam and it sets me off. I throw all the papers off my desk and I start yelling and sobbing.
"How?! How could I let this happen?! What is wrong with me?!" I sit down in my desk chair and rest my head on the table in my arms. I end up falling asleep st my desk for the rest of the night.
*end of flashback*
"Because baby, Daddy was a jerk to mommy. I shouldn't have done or said some of the things I did. I would do anything to take it back."
She just looks at me before saying, "Then do it."
"Addy it's not that easy baby, Daddy really messed up"
"Trust me Daddy, I know but I also know that mommy still loves you. She still keeps your pictures up around the house and your office is just the way you left it. She misses you Dad"
I pull into my driveway and look back at the twins, they are asleep. Then I turn toward Adley. "Addy, would you help me with this, I wanna do it perfect, every detail has to be perfect."
Mady's POV
I knock on Kara's door and Kayden answers. His eyes are red and tear stains running down his face. "Oh babe" I whisper as I pull him into a hug. He sobs into my shoulder and I rub his back. "It's okay, she lived a good life bub" he just shook his head into my shoulder and we stood in the entry way.
After about 5 minutes Ashton walks up behind Kaden and pulls him into the house along with myself and closes the door behind us. I walk Kayden to his room and he lays down on his bed. I tuck him into the blankets and he chuckles ever so lightly, "I'm a teenager Aunt Mady, you don't have to tuck me in". I shake my head, "Nonsense, you are still 5 years old playing with Adley in her crib and your grumpy cause it's nap time." I push back his hair and kiss his forehead. "Sleep tight Kayden, don't let the bed bugs bite." I walk out of his room and down the hall to Kara's. Ashton walks out before I go in and just nods his head. She needs me.
I open the door and I see her sitting in the floor against her bed, hugging Sabrina's hospital blanket from when she brought the twins home. I sit down on the floor next to her and don't say anything. We just sit there and hold each other. Eventually we are both crying. At some point we fall asleep because I wake up later to my phone ringing and we have a blanket draped over us.
I look down at my screen and see that it's Kian. I immediately pick up and walk out of Kara's room and into Ryleigh's.
"Hello" I say into the phone while picking up Ryleigh our of her crib.
"Are you still at Kara's house?"
"Yes why?"
"Because Adley forgot something in the house and needs to get it."
"There is a spare key on the porch, she knows where. Now I have to go because Ryleigh needs her diaper changed, bye tell the kids I love them"
I pull the phone away and hang up. I stuff the device in my back pocket and deal with Ryleigh.
Kian's Point Of View
Ads unlocks the door and we all walk in with the decorations. The boys won't be much help decorating so I sent them outside.
I grab the string lights and start hanging them up around the living room. Then Adley grabs the battery powered candles and roses and makes a path with them. I grab the ring and put it in my pocket for safe keeping. Then I decide to lay out the bouquet of roses that I bought her along with the book and perfume.
We finish and Adley walk over to me and wraps her rms around my waist. I hug her back and she starts to talk, "Daddy, I'm glad you're asking Momma to marry you again, I know that she is still in love with you. Sometimes I hear her crying to Auntie Kara or Auntie Fran and it's always because she misses you."
I bend down and kiss her forehead, "Believe me babe, I miss your mom just as much, if not more"
Adley kisses my cheek then runs to get the boys. She goes upstairs with them and I Call Mady.
"Hello" she sound like she has just woken up.
"Hey Mads, um we are at your house and we've run into a little problem. I think you should come home"
"What kind of problem Kian?"
"I think it's best if you just come look for yourself"
I hear some moving around and then the phone hangs up. Not 3 minutes later Mady bursts through the door and stops at a halt when she sees the room.
"Kian?" She asks, sounding deeply confused.
I motion for her to walk closer and when she does I grab her hands and hold her close to me.
"Mady, I'm a jerk. That's just the gist of it all. I am a jerk. I left you alone to raise our kids and that's not fair. But I am miserable everyday without you Mady. My days are so slow and the kids notice a difference too. But seeing you even for 5 minutes once a week to pick up the kids, excites me. When I'm sad I think of all the good times we had together. When we lived in Iowa with your mom or when we moved back here to be with Kara and Ash and how excited you were about having our own house. Mady, I have said this thousands of times over but I love you so much and I'm so stupid. When I'm with you, sleepless nights and tired days are just a distant memory.So Madelynn will you forgive me for being stupid?"
I see a couple tear streaks on her face and I pull her forehead to my lips. "Of course I forgive you Kian. I mean I forgave you awhile ago, for my own benefit."
I nod against her head and then get down to one knee. "Then I hope you won't have trouble answering this question," I say while pulling a ring out of my back pocket. Mady gasps, "Madelynn, technically still, Lawley, will you make me the happiest man alive again and marry me, again?"
"Of course!"
I stand up and Mady holds her hand out while I skip the ring on her finger, and when the ring is on she jumps into my arms. I miss her face all over and the kids come running down the stairs. We are all standing there and hugging and I know I will remember this moment forever.
I no longer have to deal with Sleepless Nights or Tired Days because I have everything I need.
