Taehyung gently placed Hana on the bed, holding her hand with a worried expression. "What's wrong, Hana-ya? Please, don't do this to me," he mumbled anxiously. After some time, the doctor arrived and examined her.
"What happened, doctor?" Taehyung asked, his voice trembling with concern.
"Mr. Kim, she has a fever. Her body is very weak by nature. Has she been spending time in a cold place?" the doctor inquired, which left Taehyung speechless.
Ignoring the doctor's question, Taehyung asked, "What should I do, doctor?"
"Keep her as warm as possible. She needs warmth, and don't forget to give her this medicine," the doctor advised, handing over a prescription.
"Yes, doctor," Taehyung replied.
After the doctor left, Taehyung lay next to Hana, hugging her while sobbing. "I'm sorry, Hana-ya. But believe me, I'll solve everything. That's my promise," he whispered before falling asleep.
The next morning, Hana slowly opened her eyes to find Taehyung staring at her. Blinking in confusion, she asked, "Taehyung, did I sleep with you again? I remember sleeping outside the room. Believe me, I didn't come here. I di—"
He gently placed his index finger on her lips. "You are so stupid, Hana. You got a fever last night, so I brought you here. From now on, you'll sleep with me," he declared.
"With you?" she asked, still bewildered.
"You heard me right," he affirmed.
"Okay," she replied softly.
"Are you feeling better?" he asked, concern evident in his voice.
"A little bit, but my body aches," she admitted.
"I'm going to take a shower, and I'll instruct Mrs. Smith to give you your medicine on time," he said.
She nodded in agreement. As he stood up and turned to leave, he added, "And one more thing, Kim Hana, don't think that I care about you. I just don't want people saying Kim Taehyung killed his wife," he said, attempting to sound cute.
A smile appeared on Hana's face. "I know Kim Taehyung hates me and doesn't care about me. Don't worry, I already know everything," she replied.
He nodded and went to the bathroom.
Later that afternoon, at around 3:34 PM, Hana felt bored and decided to explore the house. She wandered into Taehyung's study, which was filled with books. "He must really love reading. I don't understand how anyone can read all these books. He's such a bookworm," she mused with a smile.
A conversation with Yoo Jung popped into her mind. 'I saw lots of photos of you in oppa's favorite book,' Yoo Jung had said. 'And I believe he still does that now.'
"Umm, no, Hana-ya, you shouldn't think about that," she murmured to herself. "But what if Yoo Jung was right? Should I check? No, I shouldn't."
But her curiosity got the better of her, and she noticed a book on Taehyung's study table. Sitting down, she opened the book and was shocked to find several photos of herself, both old and recent.
"I-I can't believe it. This can't be true," she said, tears welling up in her eyes. "Why are you doing this, Taehyung? If you love me that much, why do you hurt me? Your behavior really hurts me. I don't love you, and I can't love you. I can't give you anything in return—not love, not pride, not the old self you're supposed to love. How can I tell you, Taehyung? I'm not that perfect girl anymore. I'm not pure. I don't deserve you. I just love him—Jeon Jungkook—and I won't stop loving him until the end of my life. But Taehyung, I want to be your friend, and I can't ruin your life. You deserve better, much better than this Hana. After Yeonjun and Yoo Jung's wedding, I'll leave. I can't ruin your life, Taehyung. I can't," she sobbed.
That evening, she was quietly watching TV when Taehyung returned to the room. She noticed him but didn't bother to talk or greet him as usual.
"Did you eat dinner?" he asked.
"Hmm," she answered shortly.
"Good, and your medicine?" he inquired again.
"Hmm," she responded briefly.
"Good. I'm going to take a shower. Did you shower?" he asked.
She nodded. "Just recently. I dried my hair," she replied.
He went to the washroom, and after some time, he returned in his nightclothes. She was still watching TV.
"Aren't you sleepy?" he asked.
"Not yet," she replied.
"Why are you giving me these short answers? Are you ignoring me?" he asked.
"Why? If you can ignore me, why can't I?" she answered irritably.
"I see. Well, it's late," he said.
"I'm not sleepy. I'm watching TV," she insisted.
He walked over to her, took her hand, and placed her on the bed, lying beside her.
"But I'm not sleepy," she protested.
"No more words. You are so annoying. Just sleep," he commanded, hugging her tightly.
Shocked, she tried to push him away, but he held her close. "Why are you doing this?" she asked.
"Doctor Kim told me to keep you warm," he mumbled with his eyes closed.
"I don't care. It's not important. I don't have an—"
He suddenly pecked her lips, leaving her speechless. "I'm tired. You should sleep; it's getting late. And from now on, you'll sleep like this, arasseo?" he told her firmly.
"Impossible," she murmured.
"Did you say something?" he asked.
"N-no. Good night, Kim Taehyung," she said. After some time, she fell asleep.
Taehyung opened his eyes, looking at her with a smile of satisfaction. "You are such a heavy sleeper, Kim Hana. But I'm happy today because I saw a little reflection of the old Hana. And I believe she will come back soon. I'm waiting for you, Hana," he mumbled before falling asleep.
