The following morning, Jack was woken up from her alarm as it played a Twenty One Pilots song through speakers. She smiled, turning on her side to turn up the volume before she got up from the bed. Even though she fell asleep pretty drunk the night before, she felt fine and nowhere near hung over. It was honestly a relief.
Jack danced to the song as she made her way over to the dresser. She bent down, opening her drawer to take out a pair of clothes. Her eyes locked on her collection of leather shirts, crop tops, and everything close to it. She sighed in defeat, knowing that there was no way she could wear that to school and still maintain her good girl reputation. She opened the drawer above it and pulled out a pair of mom jeans and a white t-shirt. Plain and boring. Just the way she needed to be to maintain her cover.
Once getting dressed, she placed her hair into a ponytail, just as she always did for school.
Meanwhile later, in the kitchen, Elena walked in after getting dressed in her own room to see her mom looking through the fridge. She noticed Elena entering the kitchen and turned to look at her, "Eggs. I can make you two eggs. Maybe some toast with it..." She trailed off, letting out a sigh when she realized they had no bread left, "And nevermind. We don't have any bread."
"It's all about the coffee, Mom," Elena commented as she poured herself a cup of coffee.
"Ooh. Get me some coffee," Jack demanded as she entered the kitchen.
"A small please would do fine," Elena replied, only to scoff loudly as Jack stole the cup of coffee from her hands.
She rolled her eyes and decided to just pour herself another cup instead of fighting with Jack like she usually did in the morning.
"Lunch money?" Diana asked her two daughters as she held out two five dollars bills for them to take, "I forgot to make your lunches like I said I would. I came in super late last night."
"I'm good," Elena replied while Jack, on the other hand, was quick to take both bills.
Diana looked over at her youngest daughter, giving her a scolding look while Jack remained looking innocent, just as she always did, even though she was quite the opposite.
Jack sarcastically smiled at her mother, "Thank you, Mom," She thanked her and Diana smiled back at her, nodding her head.
"Is there anything else you two need?" Diana asked the two girls, "What am I missing? I know I'm missing something. I always am."
"Aren't you supposed to be meeting with your publisher for your new book at Pop's?" Elena asked her mother concerned.
Diana was quick to check the time on her watch, only to realize that she was late, "Crap!" She cursed out, "I was supposed to be there ten minutes ago."
"Go, Mom," Jack encouraged her mother with a smile on her face, "We'll be fine."
Diana gave her two daughters a thankful look just before rushing out the door.
