Sunday morning, Jack and Elena woke up at about the same time. They hadn't talked to their parents after heading home from Pop's. They ended up watching a scary movie downstairs in the basement together and fell asleep on the couches there before their parents had arrived home.
Jack groaned, rubbing her eyes with her knuckles, "What time is it?" She asked her elder sister, who turned on her phone.
"Nine," She informed Jack, who sighed, "I don't know about you, but staying home is the last thing I want to do. I was planning to hang with Midge, but I don't want to leave you here alone."
"I was actually planning on asking Reggie to go somewhere," Jack told Elena, who tried her best not to make a comment, "Don't think about saying whatever you're thinking about saying. There's nothing going on between Reggie and me."
"But you made out with him at Jason's party," Elena reminded Jack, causing the girl to smirk.
"What if I said I was using him and was planning to break his heart?" She asked Elena, knowing that she could trust her sister enough to keep the secret.
"No way, really?" Elena gasped and Jack smiled, nodding her head, "Damn. That's cold."
"Nothing those football players haven't done to us girls," Jack reminded her, "Listen, Dad's not going to let me hang out with a boy alone. You know how he is. So I was wondering, could you maybe lie and say the two of us are hanging out today and that I'll be with you all day?"
"Depends," Elena smiled playfully, "Do you promise that you'll keep me informed on everything that happens between you and Mantle."
"Promise," Jack replied, lifting up her pinky before she and her sister locked pinkies. Once doing so, they pressed a kiss to their balled up fists before pulling away, causing them both to laugh, "We need to figure out a new way to pinky swear. We've been doing that since we were five and it's getting a little old."
Both girls laughed as they stood up from their separate couches, going to get dressed for the day.
Meanwhile later, after having breakfast with their parents, which happened to be the most awkward they had ever had together, Jack and Elena left the house.
While sitting in the passenger's seat of Elena's car, Jack dialed Reggie's number, "Yo," Reggie answered the phone after a few rings, causing Jack to smile and shake her head.
"Hey," Jack greeted the boy and the line went silent for a brief second.
"Jack?" Reggie asked in confusion.
"Who else would this be, dumbass?" Jack laughed at him in amusement.
"Sorry," Reggie apologized, muttering under his breath.
"Don't apologize," Jack demanded in a stern tone, "I was just wondering if you would want to go on a hike with me through the woods. It'll help you with your quest on getting to know the real me. You in?"
