Later on at that after, Reggie finally came over, both of them getting dressed together. Jack's hair was curled. She wore a tight, black off-the-shoulder shirt, leather pants, and red high heels she had stolen from her mother's closet. She wore a heavier make up than she usually did and red lipstick.
Reggie wore his hair heavily gelled and slicked back. He wore a leather jacket with a white t-shirt under it. He also wore dark jeans that were cuffed on the bottom with black converse on his feet.
"Happy Birthday," Reggie suddenly said, causing Jack to turn to him with wide eyes.
"What did you just say?" She asked him, a shocked expression on her face.
"I said Happy Birthday," Reggie replied, a small smile on his face, "It's your birthday, isn't it?"
"But I never told you," Jack reminded him.
"Doesn't mean I still didn't figure it out," He retorted, digging his hand into his pocket before talking out a velvet box. He laughed when he looked up to see the concered look on Jack's face, "Relax, babe. Don't give me that look. It's not an engagment ring," He assured her, opening the box to find a gold necklace.
Jack walked closer to Reggie to see that the necklaces had a golden heart pendant that had "J + R" engraved into it.
Jack tried her hardest not to cry as the guilt she was feeling grew even stronger, "I know it's not much, but..." Reggie trailed off and Jack was quick to interrupt.
"I love it," Jack quickly cut him off, a smile on her face as she finally looked him in the face, "Can you...Can you put it on for me?"
Reggie nodded, taking the necklace out of the box before standing behind Jack. He slowly moved her curled hair out of the way before he placed the necklace on her neck. Jack smiled, holding the pendant between two of her fingers.
Reggie smiled, leaning his head down as he pressed a kiss to the crook of her neck. Jack moaned quietly, "I love you," She confessed in a voice just above a whisper, shocking both of them.
Jack's eyes shot open, realizing what she had said, "I love you, too," Reggie mumbled quietly before finally pulling away from her neck.
"We should go," Jack awkwardly told him and Reggie agreed.
________
At the party, Jack and Reggie entered Thornhill and was immediately cornered by Jason, "Hey, love birds," Jason jokingly greeted them, "Nice costumes."
"Thank you, Jason," Jack sarcastically replied, giving him a fake smile.
"Well, as much as you guys probably want to screw each other in one of the many bedrooms here..." Jason trailed off, grabbing Reggie by the shoulders, "I gotta borrow your boyfriend for a bit."
