Chapter 8: The Hunter-nin

'You're going to die,' Kakashi sensei said, holding up a kunai.

But before he could actually do anything, two senbon needles appeared all of a sudden and pierced Zabuza threw the neck scattering his blood. All of us gasped in shock, not able to comprehend what just happened.

Only when Zabuza collapsed into the ground, did I realize there was a person standing on the tree behind him, his or her face masked. Everyone else turned to stare at the person in both shock and confusion. Kakashi sensei then jumped over to where Zabuza lay before putting to fingers on Zabuza's neck to feel his pulse. I crossed my fingers. Please say he's dead. My body can't take another fight...

Kakashi sensei's eyes widened slightly before he turned to look at the masked person - er, the masked person on the tree suspiciously.

The person bowed. 'Thank you very much,' I raised an eyebrow. I can't even tell whether it's a girl or a guy from the voice but I could tell the person was pretty young. 'I was looking for a chance to kill Zabuza.' The person continued.

'That mask ...' said sensei. 'If I remember correctly, you must be a hunter-nin from the Hidden Village of the Mist.'

'You are very well informed,' the person replied formally.

'A hunter-nin?' Naruto said, getting ready to fight.

I put a hand on his shoulder and pulled him back. 'Naruto, I doubt we're suppose to fight that person.'

'Wha-?'

'You don't know what a hunter-nin is?' Sakura asked Naruto, raising an eyebrow. 'You should have learned it at the academy. Hunter-nins are those who assassinate exiled ninjas like Zabuza who for some reason, go against the village they were born in. They do it to conceal any secret of their village.'

'Yes, I am a member of the pursuing ninja unit that hunt exiled ninjas.' the person said. I think it's a guy... Hmmm. Naruto got out of my grasp and ran towards the hunter-nin.

'Who the hell are you?! He yelled, before panting angrily. We all turned to him in surprise. What's making him get so angry? 'Who are you?!' He yelled once again.

'Calm down, Naruto.' Sensei said, finally getting up. 'He's not an enemy.'

'That's not what I'm asking! But ... Zabuza was killed! He ... He was so strong, but he was killed so easily by a kid that's not different from me! We ... We look like idiots! I can't accept this!'

'I understand why you can't believe it,' sensei said, walking over to him. 'But this is real. In this world, there are kids who are younger than you and stronger that me.'

Naruto looked away grouchily while the hunter-nin appeared next to Zabuza, throwing him over his or her shoulder. 'Your battle ends here for now. I must go dispose of this corpse. It's a body filled with secrets. So then, if you'll excuse me.'

And just like that, they disappeared.

'What was that?!' Naruto said angrily, punching the ground several times. 'Why were we like that?'

I looked at him sadly, about to walk towards him but Kakashi sensei beat me to it. He grabbed Naruto's arm.

'Things like that happen when you're a ninja. If you don't like it, make it up next time.' He let go of Naruto's arm and turned to us. 'Our mission hasn't ended yet. We need to take Tazuna-san to his house.'

'Sorry about that everyone,' Tazuna laughed. 'You can all rest at my house.'

'Alright, cheer up! Let's go.' Kakashi sensei began waking but then stopped abruptly, before collapsing onto the ground, shocking us all. We ran towards him, worried looks on our faces.

'Kakashi sensei?' I said quietly, nudging his arm with my hand. What happened?
