'I ... I thought you were dead.' I said slowly, disbelievingly staring at the Sand shinobi who had a cheeky smile on his face. Blood pounded in my ears. 'You should be dead.'
He raised an eyebrow at me, folding his arms. 'Now that's not a very nice thing to say to someone who just helped you out.'
He held out his hand and I stared at it as if it were a foreign object. Only after a while did I realize he expected me to take it. I slowly extended my trembling hand and he grasped it, making me flinch as his big calloused hand came into contact with my own hand. He pulled me up and grinned cheekily.
'I mean, I've heard that Uchiha Sasuke was extremely powerful but hey, I think my attack was pretty awesome.' He pointed a thumb over at Sasuke who stood there, an eyebrow raised at us, the left side of his face bruised.
I shakily stood up. 'No, it's not like ... it's nothing. I was mistaken -'
'Hey, are you from the leaf?' the shinobi asked, walking over and picking up my forehead protector. I nodded slowly and for some reason, he pursed his lips before passing it to me. 'There you go.'
He talks fast. Like he was running high on sugar or caffeine.
I took it from him and was about to tie it around my head to keep my fringe up when I saw bright blue sparks from the corner of my eye.
Immediately, I tied my forehead protector around my waist, hearing Nii-san nagging at me at the back of my head but I ignored it. Taking out two kunais which had explosive tags tied to them, I tossed it at Sasuke's feet. He jumped out of the way just in time as they exploded beneath him.
'What are you doing, woman?' the Sand shinobi demanded, looking at me if I had gone mad. 'There are four people still in this damn forest and one of them isn't really far from us! They could be enemies!'
'How do you know that?' I said, casting a suspicious glance at him.
'I'm a sensory type.' he answered, knitting his eyebrows. 'Damn it, the person who's closest to us is headed towards us.'
I smirked, despite the many negative emotions I was feeling. 'That's exactly what I was hoping for.'
I raised my rod and deflected all the shurikens that Sasuke sent towards me. I pulled out a scroll from my side and bit my thumb again, drawing blood and smeared it across the scroll. I charged towards Sasuke just as senbon needles began shooting out. He jumped onto a tree to avoid them but I managed to get two pierced into his right thigh. He winced, pulling them out before tossing them aside.
I looked at him sadly, instantly feeling guilty that I'd caused him pain. I huffed in frustration over my emotions.
Sasuke looked at me blankly. 'You're still soft, Ma -'
'Wind Style: Cutting Whirlwind!'
I gasped as the Sand shinobi ran past me and towards Sasuke, two fingers around his mouth while he blew out a great amount of air, the dried leaves lifted off the ground and danced around. Sasuke moved out of the way just as the wind reached the tree he formerly stood on. The tree now had several gashes on it.
'This isn't your fight,' said Sasuke, looking at the Sand shinobi with red eyes. 'Leave, or die.'
'Lord Kazekage has instructed us shinobis from the Sand,' he said. 'That if we were to come across you, we were to try and capture you. To send you back to Konoha. Where -'
'I'm not going back!' Sasuke growled, jumping off the tree and was now above the Sand shinobi, his blade raised and ready to strike.
'Sasuke, no!' I yelled, about to push him aside when a blurred figure appeared in between the two men.
'Nii-san!' I cried, relief washing over me.
Nii-san was standing there, his hands wrapped around both of Sasuke's wrist, blocking his attack. Out of instinct, I pulled the Sand Shinobi away and helped him up.
Sasuke's red eyes narrowed at Nii-san's purple ones.
The tension felt extremely thick right now, no sound was heard.
To my surprise, Sasuke pulled away from Nii-san's grasp, an annoyed growl emitted from his throat.
'Sasuke ...' I said quietly, taking cautious steps towards him. 'Sasuke, please ... come back to Konoha.'
His eyes darted towards mine and I flinched, seeing the heartless look he gave me.
'Don't joke around with me, Makoto.' he said, turning his back to me. 'I'll see you again and when I do, I'll kill you.'
With a poof, smoke engulfed and just like that, he was gone.
'No ...' I breathed, shaking my head. 'Sasuke! Come back!'
I ran over to where he last stood, and looked around. He had to still be close! He couldn't have gone far!
'Sasuke!' I yelled again, my voice cracked as tears rolled down my cheek. 'NO! SASUKE! SASUKE! COME BACK! COME BACK -'
'Stop it, Makoto!' Nii-san grabbed my shoulders and shook me vigorously. 'Makoto!'
I began shaking uncontrollably, remembering ... Sasuke tricked me. He kissed me. That was my first kiss ... He tricked me. I thought he ...
I gripped my hair, my fingers getting tangled up in dark blue locks. 'He's gone ... he's gone ... I failed to bring him back.'
Nii-san sighed, pulling me into his chest and rubbing a consoling hand between my shoulder blades and another hand on my head. I hated myself for crying over a boy. I hated it. I hated that I failed to bring him back. That I failed to see through his lies. He lied to me again, and I believed it.
'So, uh - you're name's Makoto?'
I looked at the Sand shinobi, teary eyed. Nii-san turned to him too, stiffening as soon as his eyes landed on him. I noticed the two men stare at each other, both turning pale.
I rubbed my eyes and moved away from Nii-san who's arms fell limply to his side.
'Nii-san?' I said, starting to worry. 'Do you two know each other?'
He slowly looked away from the Sand shinobi, his eyes filled with sorrow. 'No.' he finally answered. 'He just reminded me of someone.'
I noticed the Sand shinobi shifting his feet awkwardly, avoiding my gaze. I took a step towards him, my eyes narrowed. 'What about you?'
'What?' he said quickly, looking startled.
I looked at him strangely, raising an eyebrow. 'You've seen Nii-san before, haven't you?'
'No.' he answered, the ends of his lips curving up into a miserable impression of a smile. He began tapping the sides of his legs awkwardly, letting out an obviously forced laugh.
'Makoto, let's go.' said Nii-san nodding at the Sand shinobi before grabbing my arm. 'We need to hurry back -'
'Wait,' I said, keeping my feet firm and ignoring the constant tugs from Nii-san. 'I never got your name. What's your name?'
'Hiroki!' he blurted out, blinking. He then put up his hands and began walking backwards before turning around. I noticed a tiny gleam under his shirt on his neck. I squinted at it. A rectangular greyish blue translucent gem hung around his neck by a black string. 'Well, I'd better be on my way -'
I threw a senbon needle at him. He froze as a freshly new cut appeared on his cheek.
Nii-san's grip on my arm tightened and I ignored the feeling of my blood circulation getting blocked. 'Makoto! Why'd you -'
'You're lying.' I said, taking a step forward while ''Hiroki'' took a step back, a trickle of sweat rolled down the side of his face. 'What's your name?' I repeated with a snarl.
'I already told you -'
'DON'T F*** WITH ME!' I growled, breaking away from Nii-san's grasp and ran towards ''Hiroki''. My fist flew forward, straight into his jaw. He flew backwards, landing on his back with a loud thud. I knew I shouldn't have disobeyed Nii-san but my mind just wouldn't listen to my body.
'Makoto! Stop that right now!' Nii-said yelled angrily, grabbing my elbow only to result in me pulling away from his grasp. I ran over to the Sand shinobi and knelt down beside him before grabbing him by the collar. I stared into his eyes and without meaning to, I activated my Murasakigan.
I felt a pair of strong arms wrap around me, trying to pull me back but I slapped them away putting my hand beneath 'Hiroki's' collar and curling my finger around the cool gem before pulling back my hand with so much force, the necklace snapped, leaving his neck.
'O - oi!' Hiroki protested, trying to sit up but only resulted in me pushing him down.
I felt a firm hand wrap around my wrist and I looked up to meet a pair of dark purple eyes. I had to muster up all my courage to not coil up on the ground from the way Nii-san was looking at me. I opened my hand, showing him the necklace. His eyes landed on the gem.
He began shaking, taking the necklace and holding it in front of his face like it began talking to him. His eyes became bug-eyed and met with my own eyes and without any words being exchanged, we knew exactly what the other was thinking. In sync we turned to look back at the man on the floor.
He grinned sheepishly, pushing his spiky midnight blue hair out of his face. 'Long time no see, Nii-san, Makoto. How's Otousan and Okaasan? Makoto, you've really changed.'
[AUTHOR'S NOTE]
Okay guys, how many of you guessed it right? What did you think of this chapter? Sorry I kept dragging it on. I know, I'll probably get comments about how this has nothing to do with Sasuke and that it's completely irrelevant but I wanted Makoto to seem like an actual character and not like just someone who was randomly put in the story as an extra or something. Get what I mean? I have gotten comments saying stuff like 'Where's the damn romance in this story?' or 'This story is suppose to be a love story between the OC and Sasuke, stop getting side tracked!' and I get it, you want the romance, and I will get to it. So, calm your tits alright? Because sometimes I put in a lot of effort into a chapter and someone messages me and says that I'm not even putting in effort into making it romantic and stuff and sometimes, it really bums me out. But anyways, to lighten up the mood,
Have you guys watched Big Hero 6? It was such a good movie, yeah? And um ... if you can recommend any good BH6 fanfiction, pls do because ... I'm just being a full on fangirl over the two brothers.
So yeah, thanks for reading~
Also, sorry about the swearing in this chapter
