Chapter 12: It Ends Here

I slowly walked behind Sakura and Tazuna, dreading what I was most likely going to be seeing.

I stood next to Sakura as we stared down at Sasuke's lifeless body. A string of blood down his chin, his eyes closed and his body coated with cuts and bruises with needles in them.

Sakura dropped down on her knees and gasped. I felt my heart stop. No. He can't be dead. Sasuke won't be beaten so easily like that. No ...

I wanted to put my ear to his chest to listen for any signs of a heartbeat, but my body was rigid. I couldn't bring myself to move at all.

A short, stout (and horribly ugly)middle-aged man, with black tinted round glasses stood at the bridge, holding a stick and had an evil smile on his face. 'I'm disappointed, Zabuza.'

And behind him, appeared over thirty armed men, all looking ready for a fight.

Who the hell was that? Another enemy? No more, please ...

'Gato ... why are you here?' Zabuza growled at the man. So this man was Gato. The bastard who killed Inari's father. It was this man's fault the Land of Waves was in this condition. I suddenly felt a strong wave of hatred for the man. 'And what is with those subordinates?'

Gato chuckled menacingly. 'We had a little change in plans. I'm sorry, Zabuza - you're going to die here.'

Zabuza's eyes widened. 'What?'
