Ever since that kiss, I've done my best to ignore him. I drove to school in my own car, I've gotten through three periods without having to talk to him, I think I'm doing pretty good. Now I have to face the wrath of lunch hour.
"Hey, move over so Matt can sit down," Alex said motioning towards Matt who was on his way over to our table.
"Nope, we have to go actually," I said and pulled her away.
"What's going on? Are you guys still mad at each other?" She asked raising her eyebrows.
"Lauren," I heard him call.
"Call my phone," I said through gritted teeth. Alex didn't question and dialed my number, I answered it so Matt wouldn't talk to me. It was a very long and important phone call.
.
.
"So do you want to come over today? My dad's on business so Clarissa, Miranda, and I are having a girl's night," I said.
"Sure," Alex replied smiling.
We got to my house at around five, I ended up watching Alex's soccer practice. Alex plays year round soccer and has won state championships four times in her eleven years of playing.
"Hey girls, I ordered Chinese, it should be here any minute now," Miranda said as she carried a bucket of nail polish in her hands.
While some of us ate, the others would paint our toes, which right now, Miranda was doing mine and Clarissa was doing Alex's.
"So let's talk about guys," Clarissa started.
"Yeah how are things between you and Evan?" I asked picking up my noodles.
"They're doing well. So Miranda, how old you when you had your first date?" Clarissa questioned.
"Believe it or not, I was 16. My parents weren't strict or anything, it's just no guy would ask me out. I ended up asking every single guy I've gone out with, including your dad," she said.
"That's crazy! You're super-hot though!" I exclaimed.
"What about you Alex?" My step-mom asked her.
"Well I haven't dated anyone for about a month now, it's nice," she said laughing. "Lauren?"
"So Matt and I might have kissed," I muttered.
"What?" They all shrieked.
"I know, I know. It was so weird but so amazing. He just walked up and kissed me and it was so great," I said blushing.
.
.
"You have to go! Every single person that's running for court is going to be at the home game," Alex informed me.
"But Matt's going to be there," I whined.
"So? That's even more perfect! Use him as publicity for it," Alex suggested.
"But that's so wrong, I don't want to use him like that. I'm perfectly fine to win princess all by myself. I'll go to the game, but trust me, I'm not talking to him," I said then slammed my locker.
"Oh can I tell you something?" Alex questioned before I had the chance to walk away.
"Sure."
"Someone might have uh asked me out," she muttered.
"OMG! Who?" I exclaimed jumping up and down.
"Scott," she replied biting the inside of her mouth.
"I knew it! You guys have had secret crushes on each other since like eighth grade. Finally someone took action," I said.
"So you're not mad?" She asked.
"No," I said.
"Okay, well remember. No Matt, win princess on your own. Stay away from him."
.
.
"Give it up for your Huntington Seahawks!" The announcer roared and everyone stood up and cheered, including me. There's cameras everywhere, you never know whose watching.
"Hey can you go into the locker room, coach said Scott wasn't feeling good?" Alex asked me.
"Why don't you go? He's your guy," I said.
"Remember when I dated Tristan and I kinda went into the locker room and saw some guys and I might have punched Tristan? Well anyways, not exactly allowed in there now," she explained.
I laughed and told her I'd do it. I've never been in the locker room, well obviously the girls' one, but not the guys. It's pretty much the same. "Scott? Are you okay?"
"Hey, what are you doing down here?" I heard a familiar voice ask. Crap.
"I'm uh looking for Scott, Alex was worried," I said.
"Oh," he said then walked closer. I walked further back until I was against a wall, great Lauren, great. He was really close. "How come you've been avoiding me?"
"I haven't," I replied stuttering like crazy.
"Yes you have," he said getting even closer. "Lauren we've been friends for years, what's wrong?"
"I just don't know how this would work. We could either be perfect for each other, or date and breakup and our friendship goes down the toilet. I don't want to risk that Matt," I said.
"But I thought you liked taking risks. How do we know we won't be perfect, it's not like we're strangers. We've practically been dating for the past two years if you think about, and we just have like a really big promise thing where we don't even kiss. Kind of like the gypsies," he said making me laugh. "Can't we just try?" He lifted my chin up so I was looking directly into his eyes, he softly connected our lips and pulled back. We both smiled, we knew that this was perfection.
Our lips connected again, and this time it wasn't just one kiss, it was a ton. We were making out in the guys' locker room. How romantic...
