Take your time or I'll take your Heart

Chapter 6

~1 Year~

A year had gone by and I hadn't heard from Ren anytime soon. The last time I visited him was a few weeks ago, but he seemed a bit strange. I didn't know what to think of it, but the last few times I had visited him he seemed a bit off. Not to mention he had a cat all of a sudden. He was kinda cute. His name's Morgana. What a cute name for a cat. He told me he found him on the side of the road one day and decided to take him in. 

After my last visit a few weeks ago, he's been silent. I've tried texting him, but nothing. I've gotten to know Ryuji a bit more and tried contacting him. He said that Ren was busy with school work. I decided not to push it and just went with that. I knew something was up. Something he wasn't telling me.

A year had gone by and in that year, I have formed the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. Or Phantom Thieves. It consisted of me, Ryuji, Morgana, Ann, Yusuke, Makoto, Futaba, and Haru. We've successfully taken down shadows of different palaces and tried to make the world a better place. Apparently, we've made a name for ourselves. The police have almost caught us, but we've made sure that we stayed hidden when we returned to the normal world. During the many battles we have faced, we've all grown as a team. I guess my team got in the way of seeing Y/N. I've wanted to see her so many times, but my team had called me and asked if I was up for this one mission. I couldn't let them down. I was their leader after all. And a leader never lets his people down. So I never did. But I was also letting Y/N down. I had to tell her what was going on in my life, but out of fear of her leaving or not wanting to talk to me anymore, I never did. I kept silent and I think that's why we've been a bit distant lately. That sense of trust has been lacking. No matter what, I was seeing her next weekend. Even if it meant letting my team down for the first time.

The weekend had come along and it was my first time I had a free weekend. I opened my eyes and saw the sun was shining through the curtains. Morgana was laying on my chest while I was asleep. I sat up and he woke up and slid off of me. He meowed at me in the process.

"You jerk! You could of woken me up before you did that."

"I should have," I said and got out of bed.

"Where are you going?"

"I'm going to see Y/N."

"Oh, I didn't tell you."

"Tell me what?"

"We've got another mission."

"You damn cat!"

"Don't call me a cat!"

"I'm sorry, but I've been putting off seeing her for far too long."

"But this is an important mission."

"Get someone else to be leader for today. You're good at being a leader. You tell them what's going on. I can't miss this today. I made a promise to myself that I will see Y/N this weekend. No matter what."

"If you're that determined, fine. I'll tell the others when I see them."

"Thank you."

"Be careful, Joker."

"I'll try my best, Mona."

I walked out of the cafe and headed down towards the train station. I got on and waited for the stop. When it came to my stop, I ran out of the station and headed towards Y/N's house. It felt like forever since the last time I saw her. She deserved to know everything. When I was about to reach her house, Ryuji texted me.

"Hey, so Mona told us you're not going to be here for the mission. Look, we need you. We can wait for you."

"I might not be back until later."

"Don't sweat it! We're able to wait for you. Besides, you're vital to this mission."

"Fine."

I sighed and walked the rest of the way. I was tired of running. I walked up to her door and rang the doorbell. Her sister came to the door.

"Oh, hi, Ren. Does Y/N know you're coming?"

"No."

"Oh, well she's in the park. Sitting by the tree you two always sit at."

"Thank you."

"Try not to scare the shit out of her!"

"I don't make any promises," I said as I made my way towards the park. I walked around for a moment and saw her. She was sitting in her normal position. Knees up to her chin. I walked over to her and sat down next to her.

"Where the hell have you been?" she asked.

"You don't sound excited to see me."

"I would be if you haven't waited this long to visit."

"Look about that, there were a lot of things on my plate."

"Like what?"

"It's a long story."

"I can listen."

I told her everything that happened. To when I was seeing things, the castle with Ryuji, Morgana, the Phantom Thieves. I told her everything that I experienced in the past year. She seemed a bit confused by it, so I explained a little bit more.

"I think I understand it all, but why did you wait this long to tell me?"

"I thought you wouldn't understand it. Or be afraid to not talk to me anymore."

"I would still talk to you, but I was your very first friend. I thought we didn't keep anything from each other."

"Listen, you weren't there so you didn't experience it first hand."

She sighed, "Even if I wasn't there to see it, I would still believe you, Ren. I've always believed you."

"I know. That reminds me, I have a mission I need to go on. It's a crucial one."

"Ren, you've told me that you've almost lost your life a few times when you went on missions. If this is crucial, you better be careful. Actually, I don't think you should go."

"I need to do this, Y/N. This is my team we're talking about."

"So did you come all the way over here to tell me you're going back with your team?"

"No. They just sent me a message saying they needed me for this mission. I thought they could handle this, but it seems like they can't."

"I think they rely on you too much since you're their leader. Don't go if you think you're going to lose you life."

I sighed, "I need to do this, Y/N. When we're done, I'll come back here. I promise." I got up and looked down at her, "I promise." She nodded and I walked back towards the train station.

That dummy. He's going to get himself killed one of these days. But there was no doubt that with the time he has given me, my heart belongs with him.

~Hey guys! I am back from my small break and I am ready to bust out some new content! I was planning on getting this out before I left, but I accidentally forgot. Sorry guys! This was supposed to come out on the 8th, but it got pushed back until I was able to get back home. Anyway, I hope you're liking it so far! A lot of shit's going to go down soon!
