Take your time or I'll take your Heart

Chapter 9

I got back home before my parents did. I changed into my pjs and messed up my hair a bit. I walked into my closet and went through some things. I had an old shoe box that my grandparents had given me. Before they had my mother, they were a rich family. But after my grandparents died, they had given their entire estate to me and my sister. She got half and I got half. I opened the box and counted out forty-five thousand yen. I looked at my calendar. Tomorrow was the weekend. I could see them tomorrow. My parents are out again as well as my sister. If I go out there and give them the money, we can get Ren out as soon as we can. I smiled to myself and put the counted amount in a small bag and put it back in my closet. I closed the door and texted Ryuji.

"I'm coming back tomorrow."

"Why?"

"You'll see."

I walked over to my bed and crawled in it. My mother came in about an hour later and checked up on me.

"How are you feeling?" she asked.

"A little better."

"That's good. Did you get the work that you missed?"

"Maria will be giving it to me once she's done with work."

"I see. Hope you're feeling better tomorrow. I'll be making soup for dinner."

"Thanks."

Later that night, I headed to my room and picked up my phone. I opened it up and saw there was this strange app. It looked like an eye. I tapped it and then all of a sudden I was transported to somewhere. I looked around and saw I was at the train station. 

"What is this place?"

"I take it you're new around here?"

I turned and saw there was a talking cat.

"What the hell are you?"

"I don't know what I am, but the name's Morgana."

"You look like a cat."

"I'm not a cat!"

"Sorry, but what is this place?"

"This is Mementos. This is where we can take people's distorted desires quickly without having a palace. If their distorted desires aren't that strong, they come here."

"This is too crazy."

"I think you should head back. You don't have a way of protecting you and I'm not going to protect you."

I walked out of mementos and was brought back to the real world.

"What the hell just happened?"

I opened my eyes and the sun's rays were shining through. I smiled to myself and got out of bed. I looked into the hallway and saw my mother and father were gone. My sister was gone as well. I had to get this done with. I changed quickly and grabbed the small bag of money that I had counted out. I grabbed a few more just in case and grabbed my bookbag. I placed them in there and headed downstairs. I put my shoes on and headed out towards the station. I arrived and got on the train and waited. When it got to my stop, I got off and headed towards the building the Phantom Thieves usually gather. While I was walking towards it, a cat walked up to me.

"You're back again?" it asked.

"I take it you're Morgana?"

"It is. And use Mona for now."

"Ok."

"Where are you heading?"

"Back to the meeting place."
