In the morning, we got dressed, and we headed out to look for an apartment. We looked at the one place Ren had suggested. He knew the owner of the building since he lived there before he and his parents moved to the house they were in now.
"Ah, Ren, so nice to see you," he said as we walked in.
"Good morning, Jake."
"What are you in for?"
"Do you have an apartment that is open?" I asked.
He looked over at me and smiled, "It seems we haven't met. I'm Jake. I own this apartment building."
"I'm Y/N."
"Nice to meet you. So what kind of apartment room are you looking for. Are you looking for one with a view of the city, view of the ocean, view of the back alley?" he joked at the last part.
"Let's see the city and ocean view," I said.
"Right away," he said and grabbed two sets of keys. He walked over to the elevator and the doors opened up. He clicked on the sixth floor. When we got to the sixth floor, he led us down a hallway and opened up the door.
"This is the city view. It comes with a balcony and some furniture to accompany it," Jake said.
I walked over to the window and opened up the curtains. The city view was nice, but before we made a decision, I wanted to see the one with the ocean view. We looked around the apartment and checked out what it had in store. There were two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a table to eat at, TV, closet, and a sitting area where the balcony doors were.
"This is a nice place," I said.
"Come look at the ocean view. It's quite a beauty," Jake said.
We followed him to the elevator and he hit the tenth floor. When the doors opened, he led us down another hallway and opened the apartment door.
"This apartment is a little bigger in size. The tenth floor is the highest floor. You have access to the roof if you want to. We also have a pool down on the first floor along with a hot tub," Jake said. "This apartment also comes with a balcony."
I opened up the curtains and looked at the ocean view. I fell in love with the view. Ren looked around the apartment room.
"I'll let you two decide. When you do, I'll be waiting downstairs," Jake said.
"What do you think?" Ren asked.
"I love this apartment."
"Think this is a good one?"
"Hell yes!"
"Alright, let's go talk to Jake."
We came down stairs and he was at the desk.
"Seems like you made a fast decision."
"We'd like the one with the ocean view."
"Ocean view it is. Rent is about 200 yen ($1.80 in US). There is a laundry room on the seventh floor and it is about .25 yen for a full load. Pool is open from 9 AM until 10 PM, but if you want to be in there by yourselves, just let me know," he said and winked at us. "You can move in anytime. Here are the papers for the application and I will hold on to your key."
