Chapter 22

It was late at night and I was leaning against the railing on the balcony. Tomorrow I had to go to work since I was in the hospital. My mother advised me not to go for the first few days I was released. I listened to her and tomorrow was my first day back. My boss understood the condition I was in. I sighed and looked at reflection of the moon in the ocean. The balcony door opened and closed. Ren came up from behind and wrapped his arms around my waist. He rested his head on mine and looked at the view.

"Nice night out here, isn't it?"

"Sure is," I said. "Did you talk to Jake?"

"Just did. He's going to let me work here. I'm going to have to clean out the pool, run the lobby when he's not there, and other things that he's going to make me do."

"Well, I hope you're ok with it."

"Yeah. He's going to pay me every week to clean."

"It's better than nothing," I said.

He kissed my cheek and rested his head on my shoulder, "Yeah. What made you decide to come out here so late?"

"I needed some fresh air. You were downstairs talking to Jake and Scarlet and Morgana were in the other room. I decided to come out here and take a look at the view."

"Something must be up then," he said.

"What do you mean?"

"What I mean is, you must be nervous about something."

"I am a bit nervous about going back to work tomorrow."

"You'll be fine," he said.

"I hope so."

"Do you want me to relieve some stress off of you?"

"I guess," I said.

He removed his arms from around my waist and put them on my shoulders. He started to massage my shoulders and upper back.

"You're really tense here," he said as he rubbed his palm in the center of my shoulder blades. He continued until I felt relaxed.

"Thank you," I said and hugged him.

He smiled and hugged me back, "Anything for you, Y/N." There was a few moments of silence until Ren broke it. "Look at me."

I looked up at him and he rested his index finger and thumb underneath my chin. He bent down and placed his lips onto mine. I smiled and ran my hand through his hair, messing it up a bit. He pulled away and put his forehead against mine.

"I love you, Y/N."

"I love you too, Ren."

He pecked my lips before pulling away and heading back inside. I followed him in, closing the door behind me.

"Did you eat yet?"

"I was waiting for you," I said.

"Do you want to go out for dinner or do you want to make something here?"

"I'll do whatever you want to do."

"It's a bit late to go out. Want some noddles?"

"Sure," I said and walked into the pantry. I grabbed some noddles and Ren was getting the pot out from the cabinet. He put some water in it and put it on the stove. Morgana came out from the other room and jumped onto the counter.

"What are you guys making?" Morgana asked.

"Some noodles," I said and opened them up.

"Sounds good," he said.

I broke off part of a noodle and handed it to him. He opened his mouth and ate it.

"Crunchy," Morgana said.

"We'll let you try some once they're ready," I said.

"Wait, those aren't ready?"

"Nope. Got to let the water boil and then put them in," Ren said as he grabbed some seasonings from the cabinet above him.

"No wonder it tasted that way," he said as his tail flicked back and forth.

I walked back into the pantry and got the dog food out. I poured some into Scarlet's bowl and she came running out of the room to eat. I rubbed her head as she happily ate down her dinner. I came back over to Ren to see the water was starting to boil. When it started to really boil, I placed the noodles in. Ren did the rest as I got out the bowls and silverware. I set them next to Morgana and helped Ren put the noddles in the bowls. I picked a noodle up and handed it to Morgana. He ate it and licked his mouth.

"That was tasty!" Morgana smiled.

I grabbed a small bowl and put some in. I placed it in front of Morgana and ate with Ren. Once we were done, I washed the dishes while he dried them. When we finished that, I turned on the TV to watch the news for tomorrow's weather. Ren came over and sat down with me for a little bit. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and I leaned into his. Once the news was over, I flipped the station to a show we both liked. Around nine, I turned off the TV and got ready for bed. I changed and Ren came in and changed. Morgana and Scarlet came in and curled up at the bottom of the bed. I crawled into bed as Ren turned off the light and took off his glasses. He got in next to me. I put my back in his chest and his arm wrapped around my waist. I reached over and intertwined my hand with his.

"Don't worry about tomorrow, Y/N. You're going to be ok tomorrow."

"Thank you, Ren. I love you."

"I love you too."
