Chapter 13

~1 month later~

"Mom, can I talk to you?" I asked her. 

"Is everything ok?"

"Yeah," I said sitting down at the counter, next to Ren. He was on his phone looking at the news. I elbowed him and he put his phone down. "After what happened to Ren a month ago, we've discovered something about each other. It turns out both of us were hiding from each other. Hiding feelings to be specific. Mom, Ren and I are together."

My mother just smiled, "It's about damn time."

"What?" I asked.

"Even if you two were just friends at the time, I sensed there was something special between the two of you. If you were just friends, I could tell you two would end up being together. Now, I am happy that you're happy, but don't do stupid stuff in the house. Especially when we're here."

"Understood," I said.

"You better treat her properly," my mother said.

"I will," Ren said.

"I'm just messing with you, Ren," she smiled.

My sister came down and looked at the two of us.

"Hey, Ren and Y/N are together," my mother told my sister.

"Really?"

"Yeah," I said.

She just smiled, "About time. Hey, mom, I'm heading out to go see Ann."

"Ok. Drive safe!"

"Ann?" Ren asked.

"Yeah. One of her sister's friends went to Shujin and lives in that area. I think you might know her. Ann Tamaki?"

"Yeah. I do know her," he said.

"Really? Is she nice?"

"Very."

"I see. Well, your father and I are going to see a few friends. Can I trust that you two won't do stupid things while we're gone?"

"We won't do stupid things while you're gone. Right, Ren?"

"Yes," Ren said.

"You have our word."

"Alright. We'll see you in about a few hours."

My father came downstairs, talked for a few minutes, and then headed out with my mom.

I turned to Ren, "I honestly did not know they were leaving."

"Neither did I," he said.

"Is there anything you want to do?"

"Want to take a walk?"

"Sure."

We both got changed and got our shoes on. I rubbed my dog's head as we were leaving. Morgana was playing with my sister's cat. I grabbed the keys and walked out the front door. I locked it and put it in my pocket. Ren and I started to walk around the neighborhood. We were just talking about random stuff. I inched closer to him and looked down at his hand. He caught on and intertwined it with mine. I smiled and leaned my head on his shoulder. He kissed the top of my head and we walked towards the park. We walked around the park for a little bit. We sat by the small river and watched the small fish and crayfish swim about. There were a few ducks coasting down the river, but that was mostly it. We headed into the woods that was near the park and walked along the trails. 

"Look," I said.

Ren looked at where I was pointing and saw two deer. It was a buck and a female. They were walking together and then they were followed be a few more deer. 

"They're so pretty," he said.

"Majestic as well," I said.

We walked out of the woods and headed back towards the park. We sat by the tree that we normally go to. It looked out over the city. I leaned my head on Ren's shoulder and his hand rested a top of mine. 

"Thank you," I said.

"For what?"

"For everything you have given me."

He smiled and kissed my cheek, "You're welcome. And thank you."

I smiled at him and gave him a light peck on the lips. We both got up and walked back towards my house. My mother, father, and sister were still not home. I took a shower and changed my clothes. Ren took a shower as well and I waited for him in his room. Morgana was walking around and then jumped onto the bed.

"How was your walk?" Morgana asked.

"It was fine. We're both a little tired so we're going to take a slight nap."

"I see. You left me here and then you're going to leave me again."

I smiled and ran my hand across his head, "Why don't you play with Icicle?"

"Your sister's cat doesn't like me."

"Have you tried playing with him?"

"I have tried."

"Well, Icicle is an independent cat. He doesn't really like my sister either, but my sister does a lot for him. It takes him some time to warm up to people. Hence his name."

"What about you? He seems to like you more than anyone."

"I found Icicle when he was a kitten. I asked my mom if we could keep him. She said yes, but we made sure he was free of rabies and got his shots. After we went through that progress, we were able to keep Icicle. Since I like dogs more than cats, Icicle was claimed by my sister."

"Ah, you're kind of like Ren. A few animals like him."

"You mean you?"

"I'm not an animal!"

"I know you're not," I smiled.

Ren walked into the room with only his pants on. "I didn't know you were going to be in here waiting for me."

"Oh sorry."

"No, no, it's fine. Let me just grab a shirt."

He turned his back to me and that's when I realized, he had some scars on his back. I walked over to him and traced a few on his back. He almost jumped, but he seemed to relax.

"Why didn't you tell me you had scars on your back?" I asked.

"I didn't want you to worry."

"How did you get these?"

"These were back when I was with the Phantom Thieves. A lot of fighting was involved when I was with them."

Tears filled my eyes and I quickly wiped them away. "I just worry about you."

Ren sighed and put on a shirt. "It's in the past, Y/N. I'm fine. I'm here and I'm with you."

I smiled and hugged him. He hugged me back and then picked me up.

"Ren!"

He smirked at me and placed me on the bed. He got in and pulled the covers over us. I put my back into his chest and his arm wrapped around me. Morgana jumped onto the bed and rested at the foot of the bed. I intertwined my hand with his and he kissed the back of my head.

"I love you, Y/N."

That was the first time he has ever said that. I smiled to myself, tightening my grip on his hand.

"I love you too, Ren."
