"He's got some black magic up in those fingertips"
~ Bishop Briggs "Baby"
When Bella's beat up old red truck entered the Forks High School parking lot, Chance was surprised to see most people staring, forgetting that the car's engine must have made quite loud sounds.
With a roll of her eyes, Chance slid out of the passenger seat and waited patiently for Bella. Charlie had informed her that she needed to safely get Chance into the School's main building before she was allowed to leave her incase a car comes and she doesn't hear it.
Bobby was still a puppy, she had barley had him for six months so he was still not good in crowds so Chance and her adoptive father decided it was better that he stayed home until he was properly trained. Up until the time she got Bobby, she had never had a permanent hearing dog as they were struggling to fund for the training As well as providing all the essentials Chance would need to feel comfortable. She was extremely self critical despite how she is first perceived.
As Chance led Bella to the office after successfully surviving the hastily made walk over to the entrance, a school mate that Chance didn't recognise appeared in front of them and snapped a picture of Bella. Chance then recognised him as Eric, he ran the school newspaper with a girl named Angela.
Silently, Chance glided next to them as Bella and Eric had a conversation that clearly made Bella uncomfortable.
Once Eric had scurried off, Bella and Chance had found the office and Chance calmly allowed Bella to collect her timetable which they compared. They had Biology together along with Calculus and PE, other than that, their classes were not the same.
After three lessons of being alone, they had PE, which meant Chance was going to spend an hour running on one of the three treadmills the school owned - they were currently doing team sports, meaning communication, something Chance could not do.
Today, someone joined her. Her name was Alice Cullen. She was one of the six mysterious people that Forks High was yet to unlock the secrets to. She had amber eyes, a black pixie cut and was extremely pale with a small figure, yet she still towered Chance.
Eventually, Chance glanced up at her and she was waiting expectantly for her to respond, to which she shrugged nonchalantly, hoping she wasn't actually talking to her.
With a small sigh, Chance jumped off the treadmill and jogged over to Bella who had just whacked a volleyball into some guys head. Noticing her adoptive sister, she pulled her over to them before hastily apologising to the guy she hit.
The boy smiled at them and introduced himself. When Bella noticed that Chance had only picked up the first part of his name, she dropped the volleyball in her hands and let it roll away, Chance smiled at Bella in appreciation - Mike Newton.
In Chance's opinion, he could have been considered cute with his round face, vibrant blue eyes and spiked sandy blonde hair. However, she just felt neutral.
Chance's watch buzzed, signalling the end of lesson.
After they talk for a couple of seconds, Bella and Mike smiled at each other, Bella more in relief. When Chance catches Mike staring a bit too long at her sister, she furrowed her eyebrows out of distaste. Mike never had lasting relationships over a couple of weeks and she didn't want Bella to go through heartbreak for him.
Thankfully, Jessica- the volleyball captain and overall peppy girl appeared in between Bella and Mike and struck up an obviously fake conversation so she could get closer to Mike. Even without being able to hear her constant gushing over the boy, Chance could still see it as clear as day that they both liked each other, Mike wanting to steer clear of this however.
