"Angel and devil and that jet black stare
Yeah, yeah, I like him like that"~ Bishop Briggs "Baby"
It was Friday night and Jasper had invited her round his house so they could work on a project together for their European History class. Chance was slightly hesitant about visiting, but upon checking in with the pack, she agreed.
She was their spy after all, unable to deny orders from the Alpha.
So that's how Chance found herself sitting silently in Bella's truck as the girl drove them both down to the Cullen house. Chance could tell that Bella was doing her best to win Chance's trust back, but could clearly see how she was slipping away from her and the Cullen's. She blamed Sam because it was he and his friends that told Bella that they hated the Cullens.
Finally, they pulled up at the house and Chance immediately opened the door, allowing Bobby to jump down from between her legs and wait patiently for Chance to thank Bella before evacuating as quickly as possible.
When she reached the door, she was met with Edward who was obviously waiting for Bella and she waved to him, which he returned with a confused face. He had been giving her that look since the day before when she came back to school, it was like he couldn't remember her or he was forgetting something about her. She knew exactly why he looked confused. He couldn't read her mind no more - a perk of being a spy shifter.
"Is Jasper in? He asked me to come over to do our European History projects together.." she let her hands fall to her sides with a downcast look when Edward gave her a sad look and shook his head.
Chance couldn't help it, her heart dropped and she simply dropped her backpack onto the floor. Upon realising that she no longer had her backpack on, she swiftly turned on her heel and stomped off, forgetting her phone was in her bag.
She passed Bella who looked confused before latching onto her sister's arm quickly. Everyone had seen it, Chance wasn't her usual self. She wasn't hiding everything as well as she usually did, she was falling apart quicker and quicker. She didn't know they saw her grimace every time or wrinkle up her nose as if she was disgusted or scared. They all blamed themselves.
As soon as Chance turned around to pull her arm free, Bella pulled her in for a hug and Chance just let herself fall apart. The past week had been the most stressful time of her life and she couldn't deal with it anymore. Even when Charlie got called in for some extra work the day before they were supposed to watch movies together and he had to cancel, Chance felt ready to cry.
As they hugged, Chance could hear Bella mumbling to Edward. "Where's Jasper?" She asked her boyfriend desperately, "she's the closest to her old self around him.." Chance buried her head further into Bella's hair before pushing away quickly, taking Bella off guard.
"I'm sorry.." Chance signed to her with a sheepish frown, "for everything, I've been a bitch since you left.." Bella let her emotions fall at her sister, she shouldn't have to apologise in Bella's eyes, she knew it was her fault and she was driving her away from the Cullen's by always being there.
Bella shook her head quickly. "No, I deserved it." Bella signed back, a lot more fluently than before. "Come on, you can hang around with me Edward, Jordon and Emmett." Bella didn't give the girl a choice, she simply latched back into her arm and pulled her forwards with a large smile. Edward watched them with an amused face, missing this sisterly duo more than anything.
As they entered the house, Chance hastily mind linked her pack, "help." They all laughed heartily at her when they found out the situation, claiming it was better her than them as they would have killed the family within seconds.
