"Yeah, he's still my baby
Yeah, he's fucking crazy, but he's still my baby"

~ Bishop Briggs "Baby"

Suddenly, anger overtook Chance and she whacked Jordan in the chest, immediately regretting it because his chest was solid, but refused to show it as she quickly signed to him; "how dare you! No texts! No calls! Do you know how bad I felt?" Jordan's happy face dropped into one of guilt.

"I'm sorry.." he replied, still scared of Chance as he was as the last time they saw each other almost a year ago, despite his new strengths.

"You're damn right you are." She narrowed her eyes, trying to stop them watering, causing Jasper to shoot up, but he refused to move any further when he felt a stab of pain go through him as she launched herself back into Jordan's arms.

When she pulled away, Alice bounced over and Jordan wrapped his arm around her, placing a kiss on her head. Chance's eyes widened in surprise. "Please tell me you're together?" She asked. When they both nodded, Chance jumped at both of them and hugged them before retreating back to Jasper and whacking him on the arm.

"What did I do wrong?" He asked defensively, he had never seen this side of his shy infatuation. He looked up at Jordan. "She hit me." He laughed and shrugged.

When he looked back down at Chance, her eyes were shining with both tears and joy. "You never told me that Jordan was dating Alice. I've seen them together in Port Angeles but I was way too far away to know it was Jordan." Jasper chuckled and nodded. Forgiving him, Chance reached down to pet Bobby who was looking curiously up at Jordan.

As Carlisle and Esme joined them, they all decided to sit down so Jordan and Chance could explain how they met.

"Are you telling it, or am I?" Chance asked, snuggling into Jasper, who had his arm around her waist.

"Four years ago, a couple years before Chance got adopted. Chance had started attending support groups for the deaf, at the time, I was also deaf, but I could hear with hearing aids, Chance wasn't that lucky. I hated my hearing aids and being deaf - Chance hated being deaf and feeling like an outsider. We met in the support group.

Chance was the new girl with a story to tell, and she told it, hiding as many secrets as possible. Even the small ones, like how she wished she could hear the bacon sizzle in the pan and not just smell it. We grew close, she resented hearing aids too, but not for the same reason. She resented them because they couldn't help her.

We'd text each other everyday of our lives - after school, before school, during school. I transferred to her school after a few months of knowing her, I didn't have any friends, nor did she, we became inseparable assholes with no teachers to tell us off.. well, they did - a lot - we just couldn't hear them." Chance felt Jasper chuckle beneath her and glanced around to see everyone else chuckling too. "Back then, Chance was the most rebellious person I had ever met - by the looks of it, that's no longer the case. Now she's like a cute little button with a short fuse." Chance glared in protest and he smirked. "She was always sneaking out to meet me at midnight so we could graffiti some walls or explore abandoned warehouses, New York at night was truly a dream for us.

Then, I had an accident. Chance was grounded, she had been given a months community service because she was caught tagging. I had decided to avenge her and tag the house that rung her in, I didn't make it to the house though, I wanted to take a shortcut, which meant crossing a motorway, I was hit. Chance visited me in hospital many times." Jordan gave her an appreciative look when she began to take over.
