"Sometimes I run my fingers through his hair
Think of the crazy shit that's under there"

~ Bishop Briggs "Baby"

Chance felt tears in her eyes as she comprehended what Sam had told her four days later. She was sitting in Paul's backseat, snuggled up to Bobby as they listened to Hold My Girl on repeat.

The time was currently ten pm and Chance was surprising her father by coming home a day earlier than he thought.

She watched as the sky melted from the navy blue to pitch black, the stars acting as a light source for the truck. She watched as the fields slowly threaded into the thick trees from the familiar town of Forks.

She couldn't help it, a sob Escaped her lips as she remembered what Jasper said to her when her father visited,

'Just don't hate me'

It was not a command, it was a plea. Despite how much she wanted not to, Alpha's orders were pretty impossible to deny or argue against, so she placed her head against the cool window and allowed the song to soak her up in George Ezra's voice.

"Chance?" Paul asked hesitantly, "Are you ok? Do you want me to pull over?" Chance disagreed politely, feeling herself calm down slightly, an embarrassed tinge on her cheeks.

They pulled up and Chance immediately threw open the door for Bobby to hop out. Her hand reached for her bag, but Paul lugged it over her shoulder, his other hand holding all of her sport clothes that Emily and Annie gave her for whenever she felt like she needed to go on a run. Her bare feet slammed against the twigs decorating the muddy floor around her, but she barely batted an eyelash, confusing the two sets of eyes watching her through the thicket of branches.

Paul let out a low growl as he joined Chance, his nose twitching angrily. "Chance, your friends are here" Paul grumbled in displeasure through their link, both quickly scanning the foliage around them, but once deeming the onlookers as invisible to their increased eyesight, they began their trek towards the house, Bobby sticking to Chance's legs in pure pleasure.

As they strolled up, Bobby stopped, pulling in his lead slightly, Chance Turing in concern to see what he was waiting for. That's when she heard it, the screeching of tyres as a car pulled up beside Charlie's cruiser; Bella's truck.

Paul turned and gave Chance a look of complete displeasure before handing her the two bags and stalking off to his truck. With a slightly withered expression, Chance turned to see who was with Bella, her nose overpowering with the most god awful stench she had ever smelt. Her nose wrinkled.

Climbing out of the truck with Bella was Alice and Edward, it's sharing confused glances as they did not foresee the girl being there.

"Chance!" Alice signed frantically, skipping over and masking her shock, but Chance raised an eyebrow sceptically. "How are you?" The girl shrugged indifferently, unwrinkling her nose quickly.

"Better." She signed back over after placing her bags on the floor. "Hi Eddie." Chance signed over to the bronze haired Male, who gave her an awkward smile, his eyes staring into her soul slightly. She narrowed her eyes, reminding Edward that she knew of his gift, his eyes softened and he pulled her in for a small apology hug.

"Sorry Chance, don't worry. I saw nothing." He signed over before pulling her in for a tight hug and letting go so Alice could hug her too, both not noticing her grimaces. "I've got your bags." Edward promised, picking up her bags of clothes before his nose wrinkled at the smell of the wolves.

He knew he couldn't claim that Paul had broken the treaty because he was invited into their lands. So he just had to hold his tongue.

Chance let Bella lead them in where Charlie sat watching the game, not bothering to look up. Bella gave Chance a confused look as she noticed her bare feet before Chance ran forwards and jumped the sofa, landing casually beside her father, who turned with a large smile and brought her in for a hug.
