"And I love the way that we walk the train tracks
Fogging the windows up, on the way back"~ Bishop Briggs "Baby"
It took Chance exactly five minutes after Jacob had left to have her first shift, the pain made her uncomfortable, her entire body feeling as if it had just been crushed to dust and then piled back together in a futile attempt of fixing it. Sam smiled proudly at the amber eyes that burned into his souls from where he stood, she was barely up to his shoulder in wolf form, about seven inches shorter than Sam with his increased Alpha height and a mere two inches smaller than Jared in human form, but considering Jared was the smallest out of the pack, Chance considered this a good sign.
Sam began to talk to her, leading her off the balcony to avoid anymore damage than just a few boards of the porch wooden railings.
Her soft off colour white paws padded against the soft mud on the floor, her tongue unwillingly lolling outside her wolfy chops. Her amber eyes narrowed considerably at this and frantically shook her head, trying to pull it back in. She still want fully able to understand how to completely control each function of the wolf body she was currently in.
"You're gorgeous." Sam complemented, patting her nose softly, earning a small sneeze from the wolf.
Sam wasn't wrong, her coat was beautiful. Her wolf cut up short to the sizes of the other wolves in the Quileute Tribe pack, but she paid no mind from this as she was descended from a different species of shifters. Her legs were the most appeasing off white colour which matched her stomach. On her back was light grey and light brown puffs of great long fur that felt as though you were touching the fluffiest of clouds with speckles of black dotted around. Her tail continued this pattern, bushing into a fluffy line, the top of her tail being her black. Her fluffy face was more light brown than light grey, but other than that and the absence of black speckles here, it matched her back.
She decided to sit patiently and listen to Jared and Sam as they explained to her about why her hearing always returning.
"Your shift was approaching at a steady pace, so when you started maturing enough to shift, your wolf instincts began to take over." Same explained, his deep voice holding a tone of authority but at the same time kindness. "Your wolf part still had strong hearing, so she contacted to your own hearing so you can be more aware of your surroundings and find it easier to shift away from danger."
Chance didn't quite understand this and cocked her head to the side, her ears laying flat in confusion. Jared thought for a second, "like a defence mechanism.. a back up plan." He offered helpfully, causing Chance to straighten her head again in understanding.
Paul approached them warily, glancing over to Chance in awe of her glossy coat. "Chance, Harry and Billy are on their way over.." he gave her a proud grin. "If all goes well, you'll be accepted into the pack this time on Tuesday."
Chance made a futile attempt to nod, only four days, including today until she would be an honourable member of the Quileute Tribe.
Jared and Paul both shifted painless and effortlessly into their wolves so Sam could size them up against each other.
Jared was the taller wolf of the three that stood before Sam as he circled them thoughtfully. The fur surrounding his eyes were a deep grey colour contrasting the rest of the rustic red fur that coated the rest fo his body, reminding Chance of a mask in some sorts. Jared stood the tallest in the sense of less slouching, showing his superior authority to the other two wolves. His eyes darted across the area quickly, notifying Chance that Jared was the one with the sharpest eyes.
