The next day before school, Bella sat in a table watching out for Edward to show so she could confront him about why he was so hostile towards her, whereas Chance was sitting beside her waiting for Alice to roll in as they shared art together first period.

When the Cullen's finally pulled in, Bella's face dropped when she noticed Edward's absence but it turned to confusion when Alice hastily skipped over to them and hooked herself onto Chance's arm. Bella gave her a quick wave and after a second thought decided to call to Alice what she had to do to which the pixie girl promised that she wouldn't be harmed, but Bella seemed to notice the double meaning behind it.

Once Alice reached her siblings with the deaf girl in tow, Jasper stiffened and his face consorted to a painful expression. His head turned and Emmett smiled down at her.

"Don't worry about him." He signed to her, "he gets nervous around people." Emmett gave her a large, welcoming grin that Rosalie and Chance both thought was contagious and couldn't help but copy.

Rosalie turned to the girl in bewilderment, she didn't feel angry towards Chance as she did her sister. Rosalie didn't like what she knew was going to happen between the sisters and her brothers, but she couldn't bring herself to be mad. Eventually, she managed to tear her eyes away from the girl and check on Jasper, who seemed preoccupied with his thirst to notice.

Rosalie gave Emmett a look to which he took in understanding before leading Chance up the steps with Rosalie, Jasper and Alice just behind them, leaving the two at the front to have a cute little chat in sign language.

"Jasper, why were you calming me down? I couldn't bring myself to be angry at her." Rosalie whispered, being fully aware that the girl in question was deaf and intact couldn't hear her even if she shouted.

Jasper turned to her shocked, "what? No." He denied, he didn't, he was as far away from them all as possible without seeming rude or angry at her.

Alice sighed, glancing back at Bella. "She's looking for Edward." She mumbled, "wants to confront him about why he was so rude to her yesterday. Chance told me."

Then, they disappeared around the corner towards the art rooms.

In Chance's opinion, her new friend who resembled a bull was hilarious as well as Rosalie was kind and Alice could always make her laugh. Edward always managed to understand her weird thoughts but Jasper.. Jasper had never talked to her, looked at her, stood by her. He was just there.

"Are you ok?" Alice signed to her once they took their seats in the art class. Chance shrugged nonchalantly, she couldn't help but feel down. Now she had a group of friends, she realised that they could easily talk about her without her realising, they could criticise her without her knowing, she couldn't help but feel jealous of them all. They were beautiful and able to hear, they were confident and proud. All things that Chance wished she was, she hid behind her laughter, she pretended to be happy.

Alice gladly signed Chance what their assignment was and the girl started at an instant, holding a wet paintbrush between her teeth as she sketched the outlines of her piece. Alice followed after seeing what Chance was going to create and she grinned.

The lesson ended quicker than the girls would have liked, though both had finished their works of art. Alice was so proud of what she and Chance had done, praising her relentlessly, despite her friend's unsure nature.

Second lesson was biology in which Chance discovered Bella staring angrily down at his seat. They didn't pay each other any mind as they both concentrated on their work with grim expressions for complete different reasons.
