"Give me a minute to hold my girl
Give me a minute to hold my girl"~George Ezra "Hold My Girl"
Tears were already glistening in Chance Lively's eyes as she stared at herself in Paul's bedroom mirror. Her eyes were dull with the lack of sleep she had been receiving since she had first shifted and her outfit perfectly conveyed her emotions. She wore a tight dress that flared out at the waist but was plain black and presented zero emotions within its stitches.
Behind her, Paul was trying to pull up his trousers without disturbing Chance from her thoughts. She was already depressed, he didn't want to make it worse for her.
Paul and his parents waited patiently for Jacob, Quil and Embry who were taking Chance to the funeral separately so they could make a pit stop at the Swan household so Chance could pick up something to give to Sue.
When they reached the house, they wasn't surprised to see Jasper jogging off into the woods in order to avoid being around them all.
Upon observing the Rabbit, Bella had spotted Quil and Chance in the back, at the sight of Quil, her face dropped in disappointment. "Quil.. you too?" She asked in despair, hoping that it wasn't true, but at the fours hardened faces, she knew it was true.
"Yeah." Quil spat out, anger coursing through him as they watched Jasper disappeared into the trees with a blur. "Me too." He replied sarcastically as Chance and Jacob climbed out, Quill helping Chance get Bobby out and Embry sliding into the drivers seat.
Chance glared at her house, she refused to show up at home. Not when she knows they were there. "You alone?" Jacob asked her cautiously, his eyes glaring daggers at the Woods. They had only seen Jasper disappear, not Alice.
"Yes. Shouldn't you be at the funeral?" Bella asked, seeing Chance's face harden in pain. However, she was quick to hide this.
Upon seeing Chance's face, Jacob decided best to answer. "Chance wanted to get something for Sue. I had to talk to you first." the soon seventeen year old explained to the brunette. They turned to Quil and Embry, "we'll meet you there." Chance promised effort they hesitantly pulled away and drove off.
Quickly, Bella led them both into the house, "look Jake, Chance I'm sorry I-."
"This place stinks to hell." Jacob bit out, Chance nodding her head in agreement, refusing to speak to Bella or anyone today. Sadly, Bella turned to face them, and upon seeing their shut down expressions, she shuts down also.
Just as Bella began speaking again, Chance rolled her eyes before disappearing into her room - which, she noted, stunk of vampire. A loud enraged growl burned her throat as she stomped down the stairs holding a picture frame in her hand.
"You let them in my room!" She yelled, enraged, "you had no right!" She screamed, tears prickling her eyes.
In defence, Bella held up her hands, "Jasper needed you! You're his mate! At least he was around something of yours." She countered, hoping it would calm her down, however it only enraged her more.
Tears began to stream down Bella's face as she saw Chance begin to shake in anger before she stormed out. Once she was out of the door, Chance threw her head backwards into the wall and sunk to the floor, her anger fading into unwanted desire for Jasper, but also a burning hate for what he had down to her.
What he had made her become.
The monster she was.
Sadly, Bobby placed his head in Chance's lap for comfort, which she took, scooping the fully grown puppy into her lap and crying into his fur. Harry Clearwater was dead because the Cullen's decided to mess with hers and Bella's life.. and Bella let them.
A few minutes later, an icy hand landed on her shoulder, immediately she shrugged it off. But it persisted. For the hundredth time that week, Chance broke down, but this time, she broke down in the arms of her capture. The capture of her heart.
"Get off me." Chance murmured lowly, coming back to her senses, abruptly shifting away from his grip. At her sudden mood swing, Bobby hopped up and allowed Chance to follow his movements as she began to step away from his, clutching the picture to her heart. Jasper was too in shock at her angelic voice to worry about the fact she had basically rid herself of his touch - repulsed by it even.
Suddenly, the door flew open and Alice jumped out, giving Jasper a firm nod, informing him that he had to do something, but he merely shook his head and continued to approach his broke Looking mate, hoping to calm her down in some way.
Jacob charged out after her, his eyes catching Chance's before he screamed out to Jasper, "leave her alone you bloodsucker! Can't you see she's going through enough without you being here?" He growled, causing Jasper to give her a pained but still apologetic glance before he sprinted off.
Then, Bella exited the house and Chance cracked her knuckles angrily before watching the ordeal go down.
"Please, Bella. Stay here. For Charlie.. for Chance.. for me." He pleaded, But to no avail as Bella plucked herself from Jacob and continued towards the car.
"Bye, Jacob." She mumbled, hiding her eyes from him. She couldn't bare the look of his distraught face or his eyes that seemed to always sparkle in adoration towards her. She knew that they dimmed the moment she picked Edward over himself and Chance.
Chance, Bella's eyes snapped towards Chance who didn't even had the ability to look sad. She looked maddened. When she noticed Bella's eyes on her, she shoved her middle finger into the air and practically begged Bella to get in to the car, her eyes hard and her cheeks puffy from tears.
Both wolves felt a breakdown coming along when they watched Bella climb into the car. Chance wanted her to leave to calm Jacob down and so she could visit the funeral of one of the most amazing people she knew.
As the car shot away, Jacob shifted, kneeling down for Chance to climb onto his back.
Bella watched as their figures shrunk further away and Jacob's tail whipped around a tree, obscuring Bobby and Chance from her view as they rode on his back. The brunette's eyes clouded with tears as she watched the last of Jacob's suit flutter to the floor..
Hastily, Jasper skidded to a stop outside the Denali household where they had been living for a while, capturing all the vampires attention.
"Bella's alive." He announced, his face devoid of all emotions after Chance's reaction to him. "They're going to get him now." He informed them, watching as Jordon, Esme, Emmett and Carlisle all have him relieved looks.
However, Rosalie was more concerned over another matter - the worry for Edward diminishing the second she realised where Jasper head just been. "Is Chance ok?" She asked urgently, seeing his face drop even more. "Is she safe."
Jasper ran his hand through his hair as Jordon took a cautious step towards him, determined to get an answer, after all, he still counted her as his best friend. "Jasper.. is Chance ok?"
Slowly, the honey blonde vampire sunk into one of the plush sofas. "She's fine.. but she's always so angry.. she hates us all.." every single Cullen or Hale heart immediately plummeted into their stomachs. Chance Lively hated them. "I didn't need to be an empath to figure that out. She's wrapped around the packs finger." He spat out, his voice a snarl at the end.
Esme shot Jasper an assuring look, "Jasper.. they're her friends.. she's with them for comfort. If she's with them, it's because they're there right now." She pointed out, "she can't just wait for us to show up. She's not like Bella."
Jasper huffed, "no. She's better." He huffed, Sending them all sad looks before slinking off to be on his own..
