Song: Hold Fast by Mercy Me

When we arrive all the seats are in a circle so that everyone can face each other. I hate when they make you sit this way, so everyone can see your face, your reaction to anything that is said. I sit beside Raine. Sarah comes into the room and sits with us. "Ok, let's go around the room to introduce ourselves we have a few new people with us today."

Everyone says there name and age. I don't really pay attention. I know some of them already because they eat with me and practically every meal. Not only that but I have classes with a few of them. I don't know everyone's name but really I don't care to know everyone. I really don't plan on being here that long.

"Hey guys, I'm Alyssa. I'm seventeen." She says a little sarcastically.

"Hi. My name is ReAnn, I'm eighteen." ReAnn says almost annoyed by the whole thing. I'm sure she has done this over a hundred times already. She rolls her eyes and then stares down at her hands in her lap.

"My name is Raine, I just turned nineteen." He looks at me with a crooked smile. I roll my eyes at him. Dear lord he thinks he is all that. Ok so he is but he doesn't have to show it you know what I mean.

All eyes are now on me; I play with my fingers intertwining them together. I didn't realize they were trembling so bad. "Oh, I'm kinda of new here. I'm Katana and I'm eighteen." I try not to look around the circle but it's really hard not to.

We finish going around the room and then Sarah asks, "Well does anyone want to share today?"

Everyone just looks at each other. Guess that is a no. I mean who wants to share with anyone. We all know why we are here but does everyone else have to know everything.

"Come on guys, ok then let's do topics then." She grabs a jar and reaches in and pulls out a card. Then she reads it. "What calms you down when you are upset?"

We go around the room, everyone says something related to the arts like drawing, painting, singing, playing a musical instrument, and listening to music. A few say smoking pot and drinking among a few other things. But it is true it does calm you down until you over do it and make matters even worse than they were to begin with.

Sarah glances down at the next piece of paper. "Ok, so let's say your house is burning down. What two things would you grab and why?"

Everyone had different comments to say. Most were things that really didn't mean much, like a phone, certain collections, computer, any kind of electronics. Of course the one guy has to mention his weed...if he is going anywhere it is too and everyone laughs under their breath about it.

"Katana what would you take?" she asks me.

"Uhm...I don't know, maybe the photo on my desk of my mom and me and...and...my grandmother's locket. Because it's the only things that remind me of her...my mom." Which is true. I don't have much things left from my mom. She really didn't take a lot of her things when she left however two years later dad just started getting rid of everything. Said that it was too hard looking at her stuff when he knew that she was never coming back.

"Raine?"

"Oh, that's easy, my guitar and my song book, because music is my life," he says without any hesitation.

"Ok, let's keep this going guys. Where do you feel the most safe and why?"

Alyssa blurts out, "Nowhere...nowhere do I feel really safe." And I kinda of understand her to a point.

"I feel safe here," says Raine. "Because everyone is always watching over me."

Some people said home or at a friend's house. I said my house, in my room because my dad has all these extra security gadgets. I don't say that he is a sheriff. She pulls out another card.

"And share a very happy memory." She folds the paper back up and places it between her legs.

Again we ago around the room, everyone telling something that has made them happy. I talk about my mom. "When I was like ten I had to do a dance recital and I will never forget how happy my mom was. How happy my dad was. They watched me dance and I will never forget how happy they looked together." There were many other times that I had of her...happy moments. Not only her but with my dad too. But then everything started to change and the last couple of years the only real happy times was at school with my friends.

"Ok. I think we may have time for one more; what is the scariest day of your life."

Dylan goes first. "Overdosing and waking up in the ER." And he wasn't the only one that talked about overdosing. Most all of us have ended in the hospital for something or another.

Raine gritted his teeth for a second and then said, "Being arrested and seeing my mother's expression on her face when she came to get me." I look over at him and wonder what he was ever arrested for. So he is a bad boy after all.

ReAnn talked about being raped by her uncle and that even now she wants the door locked scared someone will walk in on her while she is sleeping.

When it is my turn I debate what to say. I'm not ready for everyone here to know about Mr. Harper.

"Katana you are the last to go. Do you mind sharing with the group?"

I shake my head no but I feel his hand reach out for mine.

"You can tell us anything we don't judge here."

I still don't have the nerve to tell them, so instead I say what is really scary to me. "Being left for dead. Waking up in the middle of nowhere completely naked with frozen blood caked on your skin and it's so freaking cold that your fingertips are almost frozen and you want to run and you can't because your too broken to get up so you have to crawl your way out and the only thing that goes through your mind is that he is coming back for you or you are going to die and no one will ever find you either way you will never be who you were."

"She said your scariest moment, like what has actually happened to you," says ReAnn while rolling her eyes. I know she thinks I got to be making up a story like that but I'm not.

I look over at her and a single tear falls from my face. I swallow hard.

"I heard her and it was one of the scariest days of my life. One of the reasons why I'm here." I get up and walk out. I hear him walking up behind me. "Raine...go away. I opened up and no one believes me."

"That's not true. We do, give us a chance to be there for you. Don't walk away from us." He grabs my arm.

I flinch and jerk away from him. "Please...don't touch me."

"Sorry, I didn't mean anything by it. I just don't want you to walk always on us. We are all here to support each other. We all have our problems that's why we are all here."

"What if I don't want your support?" I turn to look at him with tears in my eyes.

"What if I tell you, you have it whether you want it or not. And...and it looks like you could use us to lean on."

"Raine...just go back to your friends." He walks in front on me and I have to stop. "Raine get out of my way." I try to go around him. But he doesn't let me; his arms come around me and he pulls me so close into him and he holds me.
