Song: Bad Liar by Imagine Dragons
I arrive back in Atlanta a little after four in the afternoon. Instead of going home I drive down to the restaurant to see him. If I don't do it now, I just may never get the nerve to tell him how I feel. I have to park a block away in the parking garage. At least the walk will give me time to play what I want to tell him in my head one more time. That is all I have been thinking about the whole three hour drive, replaying the whole scene in my head and just knowing it's not going to come out in any of those scenarios.
I am greeted by Zoey; she has been one of the hostesses here for about four months now. "Good afternoon, Katana, did you have a nice week off?"
"Could have been better, is Mr. Moretti in today?"
"I believe so, if he is he is probably in his office."
"Thanks." I walk through the seating area and a few of the waiters also greet me. As well as the cooks in the back of the house. Marco gleams when he sees me. "Thought you left me for good. God it's nice seeing you. You look amazing." He swoops me up in a hug and then puts me back down. I know he is lying through those teeth of his but I don't say a word.
"Thanks...Marco I would love to talk and get back to work but I really need to talk to Mr. Moretti."
"He is in his office."
"Thanks." I pat him on the shoulder and then walk into the back hallway. I come to his door and it is shut so I knock.
"Come on in."
I open the door and glance in; it is only him, so I walk on in and go to shut the door but leave a crack in it. Old habits die hard. I just can't be in an enclosed room, not with others anyway, especially a male. He is looking at his laptop but when he glances up at me his eyes glisten. "I was hoping you would be by, please come on in."
I walk over to his desk; instead of sitting down I stand. "We need to talk?"
"I know. God I never meant for any of this to happen. If I had..."
I interrupt him and to my surprise he hold his tongue for me to talk. "Please, just be quite and let me talk." I say a little rudely not meaning to come off that way but it did.
He looks back at me like he can't believe that I just did that. I'm sure no one ever back talks him, stands up to him or even speak their minds. It's quite comical in a way seeing his expression. He leans back in his chair and interlocks his hands together before placing them in front of him. He looks back up at me, waiting on me to talk.
"You have no right interfering in my life like that. I asked you if you had anything to do with his death and you said no. You lied to me." I glare into his eyes. "How could you just lie like it was nothing."
"I didn't mean..." He starts to say and I slam my hand hard on his desk, causing the pencil holder to topple over.
"I said let me talk...damn is it that so hard for you to just shut the hell up and listen."
He smirks with those god forsaken dimples and it only makes me madder at him. How dare him to make light of the situation.
"Look, there is nothing going on here between the two of us. You had no right to take a man's life. He was not any of your concern. If you would have just minded your own freaking business then none of this other shit would have happened. But no you being you! You think you own everybody. You think you can control everyone around you but you can't." I close my eyes and fight back the tears; I will not cry in front of him...I will not. "You paid off Raine didn't you and don't you dare lie to me this time?"
