Song: All the kings horses by Kamina
I wake up in the early morning hours freezing. My body aches all over. I have no clue where I am, except there is a worn out dirt ground underneath me and corn stalks surround me. Where the hell am I?
I try to stand up but I'm too weak, broken so I fall back down. I hear wild noises rustling in the distance and all I think about is something is going to jump out and get me but what. I don't want to wait to find out.
I crawl my way out. Dirt and mud dig into my nails; my fingers feel like they are going to fall off from the cold frost on the ground. I feel that I am not getting anywhere but then out of nowhere I manage to find a road.
I crawl to the edge and look both ways to see where the hell I am and nothing. I have no idea where the hell I am. There are rows and rows of corn on both sides of the road. I don't know how long I lay there before I feel the vibrations on the road and then screeching tires on the pavement. In the distance I hear a door slam and footsteps come closer to me.
"Oh shit...are you ok miss?" Comes an older male's voice.
I cringe and try to back away from him; panic floods my mind as I see him. I think of Anthony's dad coming back for me, thinking about more bad things that are bound to happen. When I glance up again I notice that it is not him, instead it is an older man with a solid head if grey.
"I'm not going to hurt you," he says calmly and then dials a number on his phone. "We have a situation here on Northcutt road. Need to send an ambulance." He puts his phone down and comes closer to me. "What in the hell happened to you little lady?"
I don't say anything, all I can do is tremble; I am freezing. He backs away and goes back to his truck and brings over a blanket placing it easily over my naked body. Within minutes the ambulance is there and sirens. I wait to see my dad knowing that he would be the one that shows up but he is not there.
When I wake up, he is there by my side. He has been crying but I know he will not admit to it.
Sheriff Harlow:
Ten o'clock rolls around she is not home. I try to wait a little longer before calling around. Eleven rolls around and I still do not hear from her. This is not like her. I grab my gun and put it in the sleeve on my side. I get out my phone and start dialing numbers as I get in my patrol car.
I go to Jake's house first. If she is there she better be dressed is all I got to say. I bang on the door and his dad answers. "Kind of late ain't it Harlow...what can I do for you?"
"Jake home?"
"Yeah...he should be in bed...hold on I will go get him." As he turns I walk in behind him. I have to see for myself that she is not there. We get to the bedroom door and he knocks and goes in waking him up.
"Jake, Mr. Harlow is here needs to ask you something?"
"Dad...seriously," he yawns but when he sees me he stands up right out of bed. "Sorry sir what is is; something happen to Katana. Oh my god, what happened?"
"That is what I want to ask you. She hasn't come home and it's way past time. I just thought she would be with you. Have you seen her?"
"No! She said she was coming by here but I haven't seen her. I swear, I haven't seen her."
"Don't lie to me boy."
"Sir...I am not lying to you," he say with a worried tone.
I don't bother waiting. I leave and go to the next house. I think of her friends Sara and Bethany maybe she crashed at one of their houses. Bethany doesn't say anything. She can't remember where everyone went after they got back to the school. Over at Sara's house she starts crying.
