above are my favorite comments from last chapter lol. I might start doing this for every chapter bc I be in bed reading the comments laughing like hell.

Nathan "Menace"

"They red bottoms. Bloody shoes." I told Audrey, trying to convince her to let me buy them for her.

We'd left her step mom's house some time ago, and were now doing some shopping in order to kill time. She already kind of fucked up the surprise aspect of the surprise, but I figured why not go on with it. She likes romantic shit, so flowers and rose petals will probably earn me head.

I'm cool with that.

"I don't want them."

"You're so difficult Audreyyyyy..."

"I promise I'll get something, just not those."

"Every time I suggest something more that a couple hundred dollars you say no. We're gonna be here all day."

"Things don't have to be expensive to be nice Nathan. And you know I don't like you spending money on me. This is not fun."

"What is it you do for fun?"

She smiled and looked at me.

"Read."

"Ew." I scoffed.

"Come on. I do shit you like, like party and do expensive shit. Couldn't we go to the library or something? Something I like?" She said playing with my hand.

"Audrey.."

"Pleaseeee?"

I reminded myself in my mind how amazing her head is. Maybe it's best I treat her to a pleasant day.

"Anything for you, Drey."

Audrey

There weren't too many people in the library, just the woman at the front counter in which whom Nathan made awkward eye contact with, and afew college girls working on a project. After stopping Nathan for a picture, we went to the back section where all my favorite books were.

"I love this one. Soul Seductions." I said grabbing a book off the shelf.

"What is that? Word porn?" Nathan said picking up the book with the father suggestive cover.

"Word p- no. It's about a girl finding her way on a sexual journey. She meets this guy and-"

"Does it have pictures?"

"No, Nathan. It's a really really great read though. Will you give it a try?"

"Aight. Even though this is a book for women.." he said taking the book from me. "If I get this book, then can we leave?"

"Fine. Just promise you'll read it?"

"Yeah yeah, I promise."

Though selecting a book was quick and easy, we'd been at the front counter arguing with the woman for 10 minutes now.

"Sir. You do not have a library card. What about this do you two not understand?" The woman said, something smug about the smile she had as she stared at Nathan.

"That's why I'm asking for one!"

"Sir you need to lower your voice."

"Audrey please talk to her about the library card before I just steal this book and do the dash." Nathan said stepping back.

"Why is he not able to get a card?"

"He's in the system for an unreturned book. It says here he checked out... Biscuit the Puppy, at..Charleston Library."

"Y'all tripping about I book I got when I was 5? In a whole nother state?? Y'all libraries got a national legion against me??? Let me check out the damn book."

"Nathan relax, I'll get it with my card." I said, taking my library card out of my wallet.

"You celebrities are so entitled. Why don't you just go and buy the book." The woman mumbled, snatching my card from me.

"My girl finna be entitled to beat your ass keep mumbling shit." Nathan said, grabbing the book from the woman's hand after she scanned it.

"You and your girl can leave. Just because you got money now don't mean you above the rules."

"Nathan come on, let's just leave."

"Drey just give me one second."

Annoyed, I went outside to the car. Why can't he just let it be?

Nathan

"Why are you acting like that?" I asked her, annoyed with the smug grin on her face. "You only tripping cause I'm with my girl."

"Acting like what? When we broke up you said act like we never met each other. That's what I'm doing."

"That doesn't mean act like an asshole. That was two years ago Gwen. And don't act like it was all me. It was a mutual agreement to forget about each other..oh you know, when you got pregnant with my homeboy's baby?"

"That's not even the point. I'm more annoyed with you and your new temporary girlfriend. Where'd you find this one? Restaurant waitress? Grocery store cashier?"

"Gwen-"

"What dream you selling her? The 'I'm gonna make you a star' lie? Then y'all date for 6 months, break up, and she goes back to her boring old job. Hmm where have we heard that story?"

"Don't blame me for you still working in this library. I didn't sell you no damn dream. You said you wanted to sing, and I said I'd help you. I bought you everything, gave you anything you asked for, and who cheated? You."

"Stop lying to yourself Nathan. You know you use the same game on all these girls who're looking for a come up."

"If anything, you used me. Audrey ain't like y'all. She not with me for a come up."

"But admit it. That's your m.o. Isn't it?"

"No, Gwen. It's not. I don't go and prey on girls like that. With the career I have, those type of girls seem to be always around me. But Audrey isn't like that!"

She began saying something else, but I tuned her out, due to a text that popped up on my screen.

could you hurry up? I thought we were going to eat. :/

I put my phone in my back pocket, and headed toward the exit.

"Nathan! I know you hear me talking to you!"

a/n:
This chapter is short bc I'm working hard on the ending of Tutor. Sorry y'all!

Quick poll:

Do y'all think Nathan purposely find girls who he can "save"?

Or is he in a career where there are many girls looking to be "saved"?

saved meaning financially taken care of, career boost, etc.
