Nathan

When Audrey texted me that she was pulling up, I rushed downstairs to the door. I needed to brief her on the antics of my mother before she was blind sided by it.

The second she opened the door I stopped her.

"Damn..can I not come in?"

"Just wanted to let you know some stuff about my mom-"

"No need. Shonda told me everything."

"I forgot she had a big mouth. But you sure you know everything? Like wa-"

"Watch what I say. I know. I'm good."

"Alright..come on." I said, grabbing her hand and leading her to the kitchen where my mom was cooking.

She was turned around facing the stove, humming some gospel song as she stirred the pot.

"Mom..I want you to meet Audrey." I said, causing her to turn around. She stared for a couple seconds, not saying anything.

"Nice to meet you.." Audrey said with a smile.

"I'm Harriet, Nathaniel's mother." My mom said, coming up to shake Audrey's hand.

That's weird. She doesn't shake hands.

"So you're the woman my son has been seeing. Nathan told me you were at work..what do you do?"

"I-"

"She's a administrative coordinator for an artist here in LA." I interjected.

I know Audrey hates when I interrupt her, but I wanted to stop her from using the term assistant because I knew it'd make my mother respond in a not so positive way.

"Oh great! You never know with Nathan, he's been with video vixens, pole dancing heathens, and everything in between. I'm happy to see he's with someone with a respectable job."

"Mom we don't need to discuss that."

"I was just saying. I'm happy with this one. You two go on upstairs, this chicken and rice won't be done for a little minute. Audrey, it was great meeting you."

"You too." She smiled, as we hurriedly left the kitchen.

Once we were far enough up the stairs where my mom couldn't hear us, Audrey whispered to me.

"For a moment I thought she didn't like me."

"Shit me too. I don't know what that handshake shit was about..I guess she had to warm up to you."

"And Nathan. Administrative coordinator? You were talking out your ass."

"I know..I just had to spice it up a little so she wouldn't act funny. You know how she is."

Audrey

When we stepped in the bedroom, I noticed Nathan close the door behind us.

"Why'd you close it?"

He shrugged, before taking my jacket off of me from behind.

"Chill."

"What you mean chill?" He mumbles kissing my neck.

"I mean chill. Your mom is downstairs..she said-"

"What she said was we have a lil minute. That's plenty of time." He said slipping his left hand down my pants.
