Em wakes up to the sound of the front door to the apartment closing. She checks the time and sees it's 9:11am. She goes to the bathroom and washes up before heading to the kitchen to make some breakfast. She sees Charlie already making breakfast and smiles at him.
"Morning Em," he smiles at her, while making an omelette.
"Morning Charlie," she smiles back, hugging him from behind and kissing his cheek.
"Sleep well? You seem happy," he muses.
"Yeah, I'm just glad I've got to spend time with you this week and meet your teammates. They're great guys," she replies honestly.
"Yeah I'm glad I got to spend time with you too. Things haven't been the same between us since I left for NTDP," he replies truthfully, missing when they were inseparable.
"Remember when our moms used to swear we would get married because we were never apart?" she asks, remembering how close they used to be.
"Yeah, well I used to think that I was gonna marry you too," he admits.
"Charlie-"
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that," he replies sheepishly, passing her an omelette.
"No it's fine. I thought I was gonna marry you too, to be honest," she admits truthfully.
"Well I guess things change," he adds.
"Yeah, but I'm glad I never lost you through everything. To be honest, I thought I was gonna lose you while you were gone. I thought you were gonna go off and become a big hot shot player and forget all about me," she confesses.
"As if I could ever forget you. My sisters would never let me live it down. They're too attached to your family," he teases, as he starts working on another omelette.
Kay and Em have maintained a friendship throughout the years. Holly and Heather also have good friendships with Anny and Eimy, due to their families' closeness.
"I mean I'm pretty unforgettable," she quips with a giggle.
"But in all seriousness, I'm glad we're still best friends after everything," he smiles.
"So, what time is practice?" she asks, changing the subject.
"11, but after last night's loss I already know it's gonna be brutal. I'm talking bag skates and shit," he shutters, thinking about how bad practice is gonna be for his teammates.
"Must be glad you're concussed then," she muses.
"I'd much rather be out on the ice then stuck not doing anything," he replies truthfully.
"What time is Kiles coming back?" she asks.
"She has class til 1 but she's probably gonna have lunch with her friends," he replies.
"Oh okay 'cause I'm hoping we could go somewhere, you know. Maybe do dinner or something tonight?" she asks.
"Sure. We can go out for dinner later," he nods.
They eat their breakfast talking about how terribly the New York Giants are doing and how bad the Knicks really suck. They eventually finish their food and head over to the couch. Charlie turns on the TV and SportsCenter comes on. They watch highlights from the NBA, NHL, and MLS and hear analysis from different sports and what not. After an hour of watching SportsCenter, Em gets up and goes to her room to FaceTime her family. After an hour, she ends the FaceTime and goes to the bathroom to shower. She then changes into a Metallica top, white biker shorts, and her fuzzy Gucci slides before going back to her room. She looks at the time and sees it's almost 2, so she decides to text Pasta.
