xii. a terrible injury

Em's alarm wakes her up at 11am and she gets up right away and scrolls through her social medias before making her way to the bathroom. She washes up before heading to the kitchen to serve herself some breakfast. She then heads to the living room where she sees her parents watching TV and eating. She greets her parents before sitting down with them to watch TV. She drinks her coffee and eats her eggs, bacon, and toast before heading back to the kitchen. She puts the dishes away in the sink before going to her sisters' room. She opens the room and sees both Keila and Eimy still asleep. She then goes to her room and gets her things to go shower.

She goes into the bathroom and showers. She then goes to her room and changes into her Julliard Dance Company jacket, an Isles tee, jeans, and booties. She leaves her hair in her natural waves and puts on minimal makeup, wanting to keep herself as bare-faced as possible. She grabs her things and sees the time is 11:48am. She goes to her sisters' room again and this time they're awake on their phones. She bids them farewell before heading to the living room where her parents still are watching TV.

"Bye guys. I'll see you tonight," she says, heading towards the front door.

"What time are you coming back?" her father asks.

"After the Rangers game tonight so I don't know, before midnight," she informs him.

"Wait you're going to both the Islanders and Rangers game today?" he asks in disbelief.

"Yeah, Syd and Matt want me to go see the Isles and Boo and the idiots want me to go see the Rangers," she explains.

"Okay, have fun then," her mother chimes in.

"Thanks Ma. I will," she adds before walking out the front door.

She gets into her car and turns it on, connecting her phone to the Bluetooth. The song MIA by Bad Bunny Ft. Drake comes on and she drives off towards Syd and Matt's house in Long Island. After an hour, she arrives at their house. She rings the doorbell and she hears barking right away A few seconds later the door opens, revealing Syd and Jax, who starts barking in excitement.

"Hey girl and hi papas! I missed you," she smiles, bringing Syd into a hug.

She then goes inside the house and starts to pet Jax. He gives her a few appreciative licks of her hand.

"So, when do you wanna head out?" Em asks.

"In like 15 minutes or so. I'm honestly just waiting for the dogsitter to get here. She said she'll be here shortly," Syd explains.

"Okay," Em nods, sitting down on the couch in the living room.

"So what's new with you?" she asks.

"I've felt a little off in the last few days and it's probably because my body decided to skip a month again. I've had some light cramping and spotting and my moods been a little off but that usually happens when I skip a month," Em explains.

"How often does your body skip?" she asks.

"Once or twice a year. It really depends because of my super active lifestyle," Em explains.

"Oh okay," she nods.

They talk about upcoming plans like Syd and Ash's joint bachelorette party that the Isles' WAGs are throwing them soon. They also talk more about the wedding plans with Em gushing about how excited she is for Syd and Matt. The sitter arrives after a while and Syd explains to her the drill. They then bid farewell to the sitter and Jax before heading out of the house. They get inside Em's car and Em puts on her music. The song the Come Closer By WizKid Ft. Drake comes on as they drive back towards the city, since the game is at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. They arrive at the Barclays Center after an hour. They park in the parking garage and get inside the arena using their guest passes. They go through the tunnel and make their way to the locker room where they see the guys getting ready for warm-ups. Syd goes up to Matt and greets him first before Em follows behind her.
