Em wakes up to an empty bed for yet another day and sighs. The Bruins have started the season on the road and she's hated being away from David for a little over a week. Yesterday marked 39 weeks for her and she knows that at any moment she can go into labor. The idea terrifies her but she's also excited because she'll finally be able to meet her daughter.

She stretches and heads to the bathroom to do her business. As she does her business, she sees that her discharge is as thick as mucus and has a tinge of blood next to it. She panics for a second before remembering that the discharge is the mucus plug and that the tinge of blood is the bloody show. This means that she'll be going into labor soon.

She cleans up and showers before sending a text to her sister, Anny.

To: Anny 💓
How quickly can you fly to Boston?

From: Anny 💓
Are you okay?

To: Anny 💓
I just lost my mucus plug so labor should hit soon

From: Anny 💓

From: Anny 💓

To: Anny 💓

To: Anny 💓
Will do 😂

Em calls her mother and lets her know about her losing her mucus plug. Her mother screams and tells her she'll be on her way to Boston soon with the her 2 youngest sisters and her father. Em contemplates sending David a message, but doesn't want to freak him out. She instead sends a text to the Lady Bruins chat, letting them know that she lost her mucus plug.

She heads to the kitchen and makes herself breakfast. She eats the breakfast and starts feeling tightening in her pelvis. She doesn't know whether they're Braxton Hicks or if they're the real deal right away. After 15 minutes, she realizes the pain hasn't gone away and realizes that they're the real thing. Dr. Rosario told her to time them, so she whips out the timer on her phone and keeps track of how far apart the contractions are.

She remembers that Dr. Rosario told her to only go to the hospital once the contractions are 7 minutes apart. She turns on the TV and prays that David can come home shortly so she can deliver this baby with him by her side. The TV luckily distracts her for long enough and before she knows it a few hours have gone by and it's 12:20 pm. Her contractions are only 20 minutes apart, meaning she's still not far along enough to head to the hospital. She's probably only a centimeter or 2 dilated, which isn't enough for delivery.

Her parents and youngest sisters are almost at the house and she can't wait for her mother to be there to comfort her. Katrina and Mel keep facetiming her from time to time to check up on her and even ask her if she needs for them to head over there. She assures them that she's okay and they let it go.

At 1:27 pm, her parents arrive at the house and Em answers the door while in the middle of a contraction.

"Ayy mi'ja, how far apart are they?" her mother asks.

"15 minutes," she answers.

"That's too far away to go to the hospital. You can't go to the hospital until you're close to active labor," Maria informs her.
